"You know your brother has outshined you yet again, right? You got a princess, he married the future queen," Greg stated.
"And because of that, we think using two sons on the same kingdom when Ender will become king is a waste," Cadence agreed.
"Hopefully, you can be charming enough to win a spot to a throne, but even if you don't, it's more beneficial to have another alliance than have both of you in their kingdom," Greg stated.
Nate blinked. "What are you saying...?"
"We're saying that the arranged marriage will be canceled," Cadence said.
Nate blinked for a moment. "I-you-... You can't do that to Clem!"
"Jaxyn may not be happy, but Coral is a woman of reason, and I'm sure she would understand and even agree. She could form another alliance with Clem as well, while we do the same with you-" Cadence began.
"No," Nate argued. "I actually proposed to her, and you have no say in if I break that or not. So if you don't want to embarrass yourselves and make your new allies angry, I recommend you back off and let us get married. Clem might not be the future queen, but she is incredible, kind, and smart. You might not appreciate those qualities, and you might only want to use me and arranged marriages to gain power, but if you cancel the arranged marriage, I promise I will tell Ender and he will tell them, which will cause strain as long as you are both on the throne. So, if we don't have any further problems, I'm going to keep dancing with my fianceé."
Greg blinked in surprise. "I-...you can't talk to us that way! We are your parents, and you will not marry the princess-"
Nate shook his head. "I will. And if you mess it up, you're going to have to deal with her family. I wouldn't recommend it. See you later."
He turned and walked back over to Clem.
