Easton stood in front of the casket and gazed down at his cousin. Her brown hair was wavy as always. She had gotten a tan since the last time Easton had seen her... Her hazel eyes were now closed. He sighed and gently took her hand.
"Marilea... Mari... ...Lea..." Easton addressed her quietly. "I would've dropped everything to come here, exhausted every resource and connection I've made to save you... Why didn't you call me? Why didn't I visit?" A tear ran down his cheek and landed on her hand. "Remember that one time... At school... I got bullied... And you stood up to them. I might have died that day from the injuries if you hadn't stepped in when you did. I was never...normal. Neither were you... But people loved you. People didn't love me... Except you. You always cared for me...like a big sister..." Easton took a shaky breath. "And... Your death has put an empty space in my heart. A void that will never be filled. A sadness that will follow me until I die... Lea..." More tears began to slide down his cheeks. "I love you. I wish I could change the past, but-" His eyes widened. "Time travel."
He gently released her hand and teleported to Sam's house. He ran downstairs and typed in the coordinates, grabbing the remote and pushing a button. Once he appeared in the past, he teleported to France. It took some digging, but...
"Lea!" Easton called, running in the hospital room.
Lea smiled tiredly. "Hi East! It's good to see you."
Easton's eyes widened. "Who...who's this?"
Oliver was snuggled up to Lea, sleeping.
"Oliver," Lea explained, smiling. "My son."
Easton smiled. "That's incredible! So...what are you doing here...?"
Lea sighed quietly. "East, I don't think I have much longer left to live..."
Easton shook his head. "Lea, I can get Beckett... I'll pour everything I have into your recovery! Please... Let me help."
Lea smiled slightly and shook her head. "East... It's okay."
"No, it's not okay, Lea!" Easton pleaded, tears running down his face.
Lea sighed and patted the spot beside her. Easton walked over and sat down, frowning with tears running down his cheeks.
Lea smiled sadly. "I had just left Oli with my friend to go take a walk... I was starting to feel better after all the hard work of having him... When I was walking, this...awful woman showed up... She said, 'it's nothing personal. Just testing a theory.' And then... She stabbed me..."
Easton frowned. "What?! Lea-"
Lea smiled slightly. "I know... After that, no medicine has worked or anything. Nothing. It's like my senses have become dull... My powers - and the intake of anything to help my condition - are failing. I'm failing. Nothing is working..."
"Lea... I am so sorry... But I do have access to Sam's time travel. Let me try to change history. I'll be back," Easton assured.
Lea blinked. "Easton, be careful!"
Easton smiled. "I will, Lea. In case it doesn't work... I love you."
Lea smiled. "I love you too, East."
Easton pushed a button and disappeared.
