Ginger knocked on her parents' door, standing with Ray.
"How are you feeling?" Ray asked as they waited outside.
Ginger smiled and hugged his arm, intertwining their fingers. "I'm fine, really. Don't worry about me."
Ray smiled back. "Okay... So classes aren't bothering you?"
"Nope," Ginger laughed. "I appreciate the concern, but I'm okay, really. It's been pretty simple so far. It's just been important to make sure I keep taking my vitamins and eating enough."
Ray nodded and smiled, placing a hand on her stomach gently. "I can't wait."
Ginger smiled and put her hand on top of his. "Neither can I."
She had a small, barely noticeable baby bump, but it still was exciting for Ray and Ginger.
Hannah opened the door and smiled. "Ray, Ginger!" She pulled her daughter into a hug. "How's my little grandchild?"
Ginger smiled. "The baby's good."
She pulled away and hugged Ray then let them in.
"Ginger, you should sit down," Hannah said, sitting down and patting the spot beside her.
Ginger smiled and sat down beside her. Ray sat beside Ginger and put an arm around her shoulder.
Mark walked in and smiled. "Hey Ginger, hello Ray."
Ginger smiled. "Hi dad!"
Ray smiled and nodded in greeting. "Hey."
"Your aunt Vivian is coming over," Hannah stated.
"Oh, great," Ginger forced a smile.
Mark laughed, joking, "Don't sound so excited."
Ginger smiled sheepishly. "Sorry...she can just be...a lot..."
"Yes, well, she is still your aunt, Ginger," Hannah said seriously. "So behave yourself."
Ginger sighed slightly and nodded. "Of course, mother..."
There was a knock. Hannah stood and walked over, answering it. Ginger glanced at Ray and sighed quietly. Ray smiled apologetically and kissed her cheek. Ginger smiled back slightly, leaning on him. Vivian walked over with Hannah and sat down in an arm chair. Hannah sat down beside Ginger again.
"Hello, Aunt Vivian," Ginger smiled.
"Hello," Ray greeted with a smile.
"Hello, Ginger, Ray. How did I go so wrong when you ended up with such a sweet, well behaved child?" Vivian sighed.
Hannah shrugged, smiling. "What can I say? I'm the only sister who ended up with a normal one... And she's doing so well in college, even with the pregnancy... She truly is a good daughter."
Ginger smiled sheepishly. "Oh, um... Thank you..."
Vivian started to say something when she received a message. She read it then seemed even more irritated.
"What's wrong, Vivian?" Mark asked.
"What's wrong? What's wrong?!" Vivian exclaimed. "What's wrong is that I just received information for picking up Charlotte! As if!"
Hannah laughed and shook her head. "Typical Nina, always seeing the good in people... Why would you want a mutant child back - or at all?"
Ginger frowned. She hated when they talked like this... They could be so hateful if they didn't approve of one little thing...
"She never was a well behaved child, and I'm going to tell Nina that Charlotte is her problem now!" Vivian stated, typing on her phone with annoyance.
"You're...abandoning Charlotte?" Ginger asked with a frown.
"Yes, I am. A child with powers is useless to me," Vivian sighed. "Oh, Hannah, you got lucky."
Ginger began to tear up.
"I did, I know," Hannah sighed. "I can't even imagine what I would've done otherwise..."
"Probably the same thing I'm doing. After all, why would we ever want mutants among us-?" Vivian began with a scoff.
"Enough!" Ginger shouted, tears running down her face.
She stood as she shouted, and the windows all burst open. Wind filled the room, knocking light objects in the room off and stirring them around. It felt like a semi-strong wind before a storm comes. It lasted a few seconds before Ginger realized what she had done. She immediately stopped and lost her balance. Ray quickly caught her, concerned.
"Ginger! Are you oka-?" Ray began.
"Ginger! You too?!" Vivian exclaimed, horrified. "None of us could have a normal child! I knew it wasn't fair! Another mutant child shows herself."
Hannah and Mark were shocked.
Mark stood slowly. "Ginger-?"
"I...I..." Hannah began, unable to speak from how shocked she was.
"Mom, I-" Ginger began.
"Get out!" Vivian spoke up. "We will speak to you when we compose ourselves!"
"Mrs. Walker...?" Ray frowned.
"For...for now please go..." Hannah agreed, looking away.
Ray frowned, but picked up his wife since she was weak from her powers. He carried her out. Tears continued to run down her face and she rested her head on him, sniffing. Ray kissed her head and drove them home. He tried to get her to eat at home, but by the time he cooked a meal, she had fallen asleep. Ray frowned and ate by himself. He hoped she'd be okay...
