Nate smiled, holding their daughter for the first time. "She's so tiny..."
He teared up, smiling down at the little baby girl in his arms.
Zoey sighed. "She didn't feel tiny for the past 7 months..."
Nate smiled sheepishly. "I'm sure she didn't... Sorry... I'm just glad she's finally here."
"Me too..." Zoey said, hesitating before saying it.
"Are you okay?" Nate frowned, hurrying over.
Zoey nodded slightly, giving him a small smile. "I'm fine."
Nate looked at her for a moment then nodded, smiling. "Okay, good."
Ender walked in and smiled. "I never would've thought you two would be married, and I also never thought I'd be an uncle."
Nate grinned. "Well, believe it!"
"How are you feeling, Zoey?" Ender asked.
"I'm fine," Zoey smiled. "Thanks, Ender."
Ender walked over and glanced at his niece, smiling. "Aww..."
Nate handed Amory to Ender carefully. Ender grinned and held her. The first time she smiled, she smiled up at Ender because he made a silly face.
"Aww..." Nate and Ender grinned.
"She has your eyes, Zoey," Ender smiled over at her.
Zoey smiled. "She does."
Nate smiled too.
This was a happy moment. It should've been the beginning of a new time of raising their child together and becoming a family...but it didn't last.- - - - -
A month or two later...
"I'm sick of you, and I'm sick of Amory!" Zoey huffed.
"Zoey, please-" Nate frowned.
"No! Don't try to reason with me. You always try that, but it's not going to work! You can keep the baby. I'm leaving both of you!" Zoey said. "I thought for so long I loved you, but you're so... I don't know why I fell for you in the first place! You're such a nerd. I would've been better off with Ender... You know, I really tried to convince myself for so long to stay with you, but I'm done pretending. I don't want to be with you or Amory, Natelo! I don't want to be a mom, your wife, or anywhere near you! Good luck!"
She huffed and stormed out. Nate frowned, feeling like he had done something wrong, and feeling like he wasn't good enough...Even now, he feels like it was his fault for not being good enough...
