"Easton... Easton Prince... Wake up!"
Easton sat up suddenly, looking down at his body. No wounds... He felt okay... What was happening? He looked around and saw a girl with purple eyes. She offered him a hand up.
Easton took it and stood. "Thank you..."
He looked around more and saw they were in seemingly frozen time, right before Monica showed up.
"How-wha-what is going on?" Easton asked, confused.
"I noticed a large spike of timetravel around this time... I saw what you did. You tried and tried so hard to save your cousin... And your time travel ran out the last opportunity you had...and in this new timeline, Easton Prince and Marilea would be dead within a few weeks. That wasn't how it was supposed to be... So I intervened. I saved you," Zayra explained.
"Can you save Lea too?" Easton asked. "Please... Please save her."
Zayra sighed. "I can't. I mean... I shouldn't. Lea's death is an event where it is very difficult to manipulate time to change it. It's almost timelocked. It's like a major plot point in the timeline... If I change it... If you keep trying... You could erase the future in a very dangerous way. It could even rip a hole in time... If that happens, we could all be gone."
Easton teared up. "That's...that's not fair..."
Zayra frowned and pulled him into a hug. "I know... I'm so sorry... Would you like to say goodbye to Lea?"
Easton sniffed and nodded. Zayra moved one hand, scrolling through time until she reached right before Lea died. She teleported them into her hospital room and restarted time.
Easton ran over. "Lea, I tried so hard to change what happened, but I couldn't. I am so sorry... I wish things would be different and-"
"Calm down, East... I know you tried," Lea interrupted, smiling weakly.
"Do you need me to handle anything for you? Watch Oliver?" Easton asked.
Lea shook her head. "Easton, I wouldn't want to burden you... The planet guardian, Arcadia... She loved grandma. I...entrust him...to her..."
Easton blinked then nodded. "If that is your wish, then... Alright." He gently took her hand. "Lea, I love you so much... Thank you...for everything..."
Lea smiled. "I...love you too... You were always...my...best friend..."
Her eyes slowly shut and the heartrate monitor flatlined. Easton cried as medical professionals ran in, checking her. Zayra frowned, walking over and putting a hand on his shoulder. To her surprise, Easton just hugged her tightly and cried into her shoulder. Zayra frowned, patting his back and hugging him. She took them to present day, back to the funeral.
"I know...it hurts... But this time... You had a chance to say goodbye. She doesn't blame you, Easton. She loved you... I hope that helps you to go forward from this moment."
Easton sniffed and nodded slightly, pulling away. "Thank you...so, so much..."
Zayra nodded. "Of course... It was nice meeting you, besides the circumstances..."
Easton smiled slightly. "You too... I'm sorry, I never asked your name..."
"Zayra," she smiled. "Zayra Pluto."
Easton's eyes widened, but before he could ask anything else, time had resumed and she was gone.
