Sadia was sitting and studying over some notes.
Nate ran in. "Sadia, guess what?! I think I've made a big discovery, and no one else is taking me seriously, so-"
"Whoa whoa whoa, slow down, Nate," Sadia replied, smiling and putting her books away. "Let's go in a group study room, and you can tell me all about it."
Nate grinned. "Okay! Ooh, they have a white board in there too!"
Sadia laughed and put her bookbag over her shoulder. "I know how much you love whiteboards, buddy."
They walked in, and Sadia set her stuff down and sat down.
"Alright, Nate, what's up?" Sadia asked, smiling at his excitement.
"Okay, so I was reading, and I read this folktale about a heroic figure named 'Arcadia...'" Nate began.
Sadia opened a notebook titled 'Nate' and began writing notes.
Nate smiled and kept going, "So I looked into it, and she's everywhere! Sometimes with a few others... I even heard something about a 'Haven' - her historical assistant, of sorts..."
"Are you sure it wasn't just refering to a place?" Sadia asked.
Nate shook his head. "If it was, it used a lot of personification... I think I found one picture where they're together...there's some others in the photo I'm unable to figure out the identity of though..."
"So...what do you think this all means?" Sadia asked, tilting her head.
"I call it 'The Planet Theory,'" Nate announced, writing it on the whiteboard.
"Couldn't it be time travel?" Sadia asked.
"Theoretically, yes. I considered that, but my problem with that theory is that with the number of appearances and mentions of them, there's no way they have a human lifespan," Nate explained.
"Not a human lifespan...? So...what is your theory then?" Sadia asked, tilting her head.
Nate smiled. "Okay, so, basically..." He drew a circle. "This is Earth. You know I can't draw, don't laugh-"
"I wouldn't dare," Sadia remarked, stifling a laugh with a joking wink.
Nate laughed and continued. "So, back to our planet... My theory is that Arcadia is some sort of overseer of Earth, looking out for nature, humans, and the planet in general. As for Haven, she must help her run things, right? But the main point is... Our planet is being watched over by immortal beings of great power. Are all planets this way? Did they create the planet? I can't say I know. But I do know that Arcadia is known throughout history positively - as an ally, helper, or even a hero in some stories. Earth's history is intertwined with her life."
Nate finished and glanced over at Sadia.
Sadia blinked a few times. "...huh..."
"Soo, what do you think?" Nate asked. "This is the first time anyone's let me get through it without calling me crazy, so..."
"You're not crazy," Sadia said firmly. "You're brilliant. I don't entirely know what to make of this, but I can tell you've done a lot of research... But think about it this way. If people knew her and didn't reveal the true nature of her fully except by complimenting her in history and inviting her to join photos, maybe you shouldn't share this theory with anyone else. You know like...how agents operate better in the shadows?"
Nate groaned. "Ughh... My most successful research project to date, and it has to stay under wraps? Typical... Well, at least one person doesn't think I'm crazy. Thanks Sadia..."
"You're welcome, buddy... You'll find something else to research. You're like...the smartest person I know," Sadia said, standing and patting his shoulder.
"Thanks," Nate replied, smiling.
She put her bag over her shoulder. "Well, I have to get going for my volunteering job."
Nate nodded and smiled. "Good luck... And thanks again. I'll do some more independent research and try to find out more."
"Keep me updated, dude," Sadia replied, patting his shoulder. "And tell me who called you crazy later so I can have a chat with them-"
"No, if you 'have a chat with them' you're going to get expelled," Nate replied, giving her a look.
Sadia sighed. "Fine... But let me know if anyone else bothers you. Study session tomorrow?"
"See you then!" Nate agreed, waving.
Sadia waved back and walked out.
