Asher was pacing, waiting for the news of Ender's campaign. Carina had gone with him, which made him even more concerned. He had wanted to go too, but he wasn't given a choice. Someone had to rule the kingdom and defend the kingdom in case the Sakurons made it past his best friend and his sister.
Finally, after waiting upon more waiting, a single ship returned.
Ender carried an unconscious Carina off the ship and ran towards the castle. Asher froze when he saw them and ran after him.
"ENDEREN! What happened?!" Asher demanded.
"We were absolutely destroyed, Asher. This campaign...this war... We can't win it. They're too strong for us. I...she got hurt... We lost most of our warriors... I...I'm so sorry..." Ender spoke hesitantly, feeling awful about what happened.
Carina coughed and looked up at him. "Ender... It wasn't your fault..."
"Carina, are you alright?" Asher asked, frowning.
"I've made it this long..." she joked with a small smile.
Ender and Asher both rolled their eyes at the younger girl, smiling.
"Did you have any visions while we were gone?" Ender asked.
"Not yet..." Asher sighed. "I was stressed. Maybe that's why?"
"Well, we could really use some insight," Ender sighed, setting Carina down for the doctors to work on.
Carina closed her eyes, becoming unconscious because of the treatment they were doing.
Asher grabbed Ender's arm and pulled him to the throne room.
"Ender, you've always been here for us... I really need your help. I need to win this war, please..." Asher pleaded.
Ender sighed. "I'm no leader, Asher. I'll keep fighting, but I'm just another soldier in this mess. Why don't you ask someone else for a solution? I'm just a Rybrospon warrior trying to help."
Asher shook his head. "No. You are much more than that, Ender. I know you're the key to all of this, if you know it yet or not. We need you. Please..."
Ender thought for a moment. "Well, I am pretty bugged they messed with Carina..."
"Normally I wouldn't encourage this, but... Use your anger. Let it fuel you, Ender. We need a hero."
Ender slowly smiled. "I have an idea. The Sakurons will pay for hurting her...and your people."- - - - -
Ender had Obrona gather all the dragons she knew. Back in this time, there were far more dragons than there are now. The remaining warriors - the survivors and some of the defending army - hesitantly rode the 'beasts' into battle. Ender created a field of air around the soldiers with him as they rode towards their target. Ender's middle name was Dragon for a reason.
As they descended over the planet, the amount of dragons present blocked out the light from the sun. The battle resumed, but this time, the Haven army had the advantage thanks to Ender.
At first, the Sakuron mage army was confident of another victory...until they realized the full extent of the sheer force and number of the dragons Ender somehow commanded. It didn't take long for the capital city to surrender and end the war. From that day forward, Ender was known as the Hero of Sakuro.
But for the Sakurons, it was the day the Rybrospo warrior, Enderen Dragon, invaded their planet and ended the war. The day of darkness, a sky filled with dragons... The deafening battle cries. And the Rybrospo warrior who fought with fire in his eyes. The story of this day is told even today. It was a day that will not soon be forgotten. A day of humility, surrender, and failure.
But for Ender, it was the day he finally learned how to be a good soldier.
