Sandra was walking along the edge of the estate barefoot. She hummed quietly to herself as she walked. Suddenly, she heard a mind... A boy and...what else? A bear ran after a boy her age. Sandra sighed and pulled the boy behind her, creating a wall of fire between them in the bear. The bear stopped quickly and roared in annoyance.
'I've told you before not to chase humans, John,' Sandra chided him mentally. 'Go back home.'
The bear lowered his head and stomped off in disappointment that he lost his lunch... Sandra shook her head and lowered the wall of fire. She turned to look at Brad and smiled.
'My name is Sandra... Sandy, for short...' Sandra introduced herself mentally.
Brad looked around in confusion. "Wha-? Who's there???"
Sandy giggled and smiled, quietly saying, "That's me..."
Brad's eyes widened. "Wow... That's-"
'You're injured,' Sandy interrupted, frowning and grabbing his arm.
Brad winced. "Oowww...but yes... I cut my arm as I was running from that bear..."
Sandy held his arm and closed her eyes, healing him.
Brad's eyes widened and he watched. "Whoa... That's really helping..."
Sandy smiled and finished. 'There! Is that better?'
Brad glanced at his arm in surprise and nodded, smiling. "It is... Thank you, Sandy. ...Oh! Um...I'm Brad, by the way. Hi!"
Sandy smiled back. 'I know... Hi.'
"Three powers is kind of a lot... I thought people usually had two," Brad mentioned.
Sandy shrugged, gesturing to follow. 'It is, but... I don't mind it. It just...can be a lot sometimes. The mind reading comes the most naturally, but it's the hardest to stop doing... Sometimes, it gives me headaches...'
"That makes sense... Is that why your family owns all this land?" Brad asked.
Sandy nodded. 'Yeah... They, um... Yeah. It can be a lot for us. So...we tend to stay here. It's not all bad though...'
Brad smiled. "It's really pretty...when bears don't attack you, that is..."
Sandy laughed. 'Yeah... Fair enough.' They reached the house. 'Come on, we can watch a movie!'
She grabbed his hand and dragged him inside.
Brad laughed and followed. "Okay, okay... I'm coming!"
