   Prompt: "What's on your mind?"

Based off of the song 'Honest' by The Neighbourhood

I'm writing a lot of imagines about heartbreak and shit and I'm really loving being able to vent and shit, especially through this one. It matches my situation to a T. Also this is for my fellow bi/pan/lesbian/str8 boy friends - Emma

Lies, lies, lies. Everything that she told you was a lie. Her job, her family, her friends, even her fucking living situation. You trusted her with everything, and she went behind your back and lied day after day. Heartbreak was something you never thought you would experience so intensely, hating that she broke you so badly and how vulnerable you had been afterwards. You had called out of work, just wanting to stay home in the apartment that you were now sharing with one of your best friends, Jared. He had been so gracious to give you a place to stay after you distanced yourself from your ex, letting her keep the place since she was the one that had found it and paid for most of it. You cuddled on the soft, white couch, a fluffy blanket over top of you as you watched the happiest movie you could think of. The happy movie, however, didn't take your mind off of her, leading you to be a crying mess by the movie's end credits. Jared had been away filming all day and he was going to be coming home early, or at least that's what he had texted you about an hour ago.

"(Y/N), I'm home," you heard Jared say, mimicking a man from the '50s. You sniffled a little, trying to stop your tears. The rustling of plastic bags had caught your attention, leading you to get up and investigate what he could have possibly gotten at the store. "What's on your mind, darlin'?"

"Her," you said simply as you spotted a pizza box sitting on the counter in front of him. You grabbed it, wincing a bit because of how hot it was on the bottom. You went over to the couch, sitting with your legs crossed as Jared followed close behind you, sitting next to you and putting his arms around your shoulder. "I just...I know I shouldn't want her, bu-but I can't help but feel like my life can't go on without her there. I know she treated me like shit and lied to me and broke my heart and lead me to do some pretty terrible things, but I can't," you sighed running your hand through your hair, "I can't just get her out of my head quick enough." Jared sighed as well, opening up to box of pizza and handing you a slice before grabbing himself one.

"You aren't going to be able to let her go as quickly as you like," Jared said as he shoved the piece of pizza into his mouth and took a bite. "She'll be there for awhile, maybe 6 months, maybe a year." You tensed up, not wanting to deal with that. "Hey, I know it's scary, but that's how long it'll take to get over a two year relationship, (Y/N). It isn't going to happen overnight."

"I know that," you said quietly as you finally bit into the pizza, savoring the taste of it. "I just don't want that." He grabbed the remote that sat on the table next to the pizza box and turned on Netflix, flicking to your favorite movie and turning up the volume. The actors spoke eloquently, something that kinda took your mind off of her, even if you did watch this movie with her multiple times. Jared messed with your hair as you both finished off the pizza. He got up, stretching out his arms as he walked over to the counter and brought over the plastic bags. He pulled out bags of both of your favorite candies, tossing yours onto your laps.

"You want some of mine," Jared asked as he held the bag of Air Head Extremes out to you. You shook your head but held out your gummy bears to him. He grabbed a handful, putting them in his lap as he them one by one. You leaned your head on his shoulder and he kissed your forehead, a smile forming on your face for the first time all day.

"Thanks for letting me stay," you whispered once the movie ended. He gripped you tighter, burying his face into your hair. "I don't deserve someone as great as you."

"You deserve the world," he said as he placed his chin on the top of your head. "And no problem. I want you to stay as long as possible."
