Traffic was insane. All you wanted to do was get to work, do your job, and go home and take a nap before your dinner. However, the universe was making time move unbelievably slow and that included you daily commute to the city. You hated your boring office job, but it paid good money and you always had an excuse to go to the city. The city had been a place you loved to go to since you were little. The hustle and bustle made you fall in love with it and the shops were just a bonus. After about 20 minutes in traffic, you had finally made it over the bridge and were on your way to work. You noticed a small coffee shop that you had no remembrance of and decided to stop. You were already late so what could an extra 15 minutes do to you?
You walked into the small shop and were instantly attracted to its coziness. The interior was small, with walls made out of brick and floors made out linoleum. The lights were dim, allowing you to see shadows of the people in there instead of seeing their faces clear. You walked up to the counter, still admiring the vintage decor on the counter.
"Hi, miss. How may I help you," said a deep voice from behind the counter. You looked up and were met with glowing hazel eyes, his brown waving locks, and his wide, toothy smile. His eyes were wide when he caught your gaze and it made you blush, lots. He seemed to shake himself out of his trance and he smiled at you, making your heart flutter. "I'm Sam."
"I'm (Y/N). And c-can I get a caramel latte," you asked timidly as Sam looked you up and down, seeming as if he was trying to memorize every small detail of your body and face. He nodded, grabbing a cup and going back to make it. You watched him as he scribbled something on the cup before filling it to the brim with coffee and caramel syrup. Sam noticed you watching a winked at you, making your face heat up immensely. He finished your drink, walking back over to give it to you.
"That'll be $3.50," he said as you pulled a $5 out of your handbag. Sam took it gingerly, his fingers slightly grazing yours and making you shiver. He gave you back your change and he whispered something before you left. "I get off at 5. Come meet me here around, say, 6? I wanna take you out."
"I get off of work at 5:30 so how about 7 so I can go home and get changed out of this stuffy pant suit," you replied taking a small sip from your cup. He nodded and looked down at the counter with blush covering his cheeks.
"I'd like that," Sam said as he pointed towards your cup. "Since I already asked you face to face, ignore the cup. I-I thought I was gonna chicken out." He rubbed the back of his neck as you shrugged.
"I've gotta get to work but I'll meet you out front at 7." You smiled at Sam and rubbed his hand which was leaning on the counter. He blushed even more, turning 20 shades redder. You chuckled as you quickly spun around to go to your car. Your boss was going to kill you, but you figured you would just blame it on the traffic. You never thought you would be so excited about being late for work and about being stuck in traffic, but you got a date out of it. You got a date with the hottest man you'd ever seen and happy was an extreme understatement.
