Plot: You're a lone hunter who's gone through a lot. Sam has just lost his brother and is struggling. What happens when he found a hunt in your neighborhood and you're already on it? Will Sam fall for you?

Based off the song 'Safety Pin' by 5 Seconds of Summer

You grabbed your hunting bag from the backseat of your truck, waiting for Sam to show up to head out. After some consideration, you had decided to be ready for a salt and burn, but you were also going to be ready for demons. Even though you couldn't kill the demons, you could probably exorcise them from the object or person. The coincidences in your parents' deaths and the other victims was too much for you to handle, so you wanted to be prepared.

The rumble of the Impala pulled you out of your thoughts as you looked up from the ground and saw Sam walking towards you. He sat down next to you, wrapping an arm around you as you shivered slightly from the cold. He sighed, looking down at you and smiling.

"You ready for your first hunt," he asked as he stood up, holding out his hand for you to take.

She took my hand and stood up, keeping her hand wrapped in mine. We walked towards the house that had been the most recent crime scene, hoping for the ghost to still be there. We stopped, her taking a sharp breath, and found a way into the house. The back door had been left unlocked and opened. (Y/N) stayed downstairs as I looked upstairs. I had searched 3 of the 6 rooms when I heard a scream from the first floor.

"(Y/N)," I yelled as I bolted through the hallway and barrelled down the stairs.

You were pinned against the wall by Casey, the lady you had helped move in. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Sam round the staircase only to be thrown against the wall by Casey. Shit, you thought. She was a demon. Her eyes quickly flashed, confirming your observation. You began chanting the exorcism spell, but she flicked her hand and your throat began to close up. You were about to pass out when the force was suddenly gone. You landed on the floor with a thump, taking deep breaths as Sam fought the demon. He was thrown against the wall and she came after you. Rolling out of her away was your only option, since standing up would've probably given her an advantage, leading her to attack you.

"I need to finish this! You have to die the same way your family did! I've killed so many others, making a pattern, trying to distract you from what I truly was." Her shrill voice echoed off the walls of the empty house.

I slowly got up, chanting a exorcism. After a few words, I was thrown against the wall again as my voice died out and (Y/n)'s replaced it. The demon was getting flustered and we saw it fly out of the poor woman's mouth and sink into the ground. Casey was obviously dead, having been living with a demon in her. (Y/N) looked scared - no, traumatized - about what had just happened. I grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the house, calling the police to come take the body. We were going to be questioned, but I figured we'd be able to make up a story. I sighed as she kept the same blank expression on her face. Police cars raced past us as they stopped in front of the house. Doors opened, neighbors sighed, and we continued walking. She stopped a few feet from her front door and looked at me.

"What the hell is this job?" She unlocked the door of the house and her breath seemed to catch in her throat as she took in the emptiness. "Oh, I was gonna leave tonight. Yeah. I - I forgot about that..." Her voice trailed off as she slid down the wall and cried. I sat next to her and held her close to me. I felt tears roll down my face as the sadness that (Y/N) felt had finally gotten to me. She wiped the tears, shrugging my arms off her shoulders.

"Sam, you should get going. You have to get home." I looked at her and softly smiled.

"Sioux Falls is too far from here to leave tonight. Besides, I want to be with you." She seemed shocked at my statement.

Sioux Falls? Sam did not just say Sioux Falls. You were going to go to live with family you had near there and it shocked you to hear him say that.

"Sam, I'm heading towards Sioux Falls, too," you began quietly as he looked at you in shock. "I - I have family up there and I was gonna work on the car lot that they owned. Of course, it's just him now..." Sam looked at you with wide eyes.

"My dad's old friend owns a car lot. His name is Bobby." It was your turn to look at him with wide eyes. Smiling, you cuddled into Sam.

"That's my uncle," you said as you grabbed his hand and held it. You felt him kiss your head and you knew he was smiling. "If you want to leave now we can."

"No, no. I just want to relish this moment with you. Us hunters don't get that much of this."

"Sam, I love you," you mumbled sleepily. You shocked yourself by saying that. After all, you had only known him for a few days, but the connection felt so deep. You weren't afraid to think it, so why should you be scared to say it?

My heart skipped a beat as she snuggled close to me and whispered. I didn't think that was what she had said at first, but I wasn't taking any chances of hurting her feelings. But she only confirmed that's what she said after I reciprocated it.

"I love you, too." I kissed her cheek and sat in silence as I heard her soft, even breathing.
