I've been having a lot of ideas for Dean lately and I don't know why. But I've had this idea in my head for like two months and I'm finally writing it down so there's that
You cleaned off all the counters and tables to get ready to open the diner. You always did that, cleaned them before and after every shift, even if you had cleaned them just a few minutes before because someone had eaten on it. The sun was shining through the wooden blinds that covered the big windows in the front of the diner, causing you to shield your eyes every time you walked in front of them. You unlocked the door and turned the sign to Open and sat behind the counter. Everyone in town knew what time your diner opened and you usually had customers, or as some might say "The Diner Regulars", that would come about 5 minutes after you had opened.
The freshly made pastries were sat in their cases underneath the counter, still giving off heat. The whole place smelled like pie and you were enjoying it until you heard the bell on the door ring. You looked up to welcome who you thought was one of the regulars. However, you were met with the sight of two tall men, who were discussing something. You smiled and started to speak.
"Hey. You boys just grab a seat and I'll be right with you." They turned their attention towards you and the one who was shorter nodded as they walked over to a table in the far corner of the diner. You grabbed your small notebook from the counter, flipping to a clean page, and walking over to their table to take their order. "So, what would you guys like to drink?" You looked up from your notebook and were met with green eyes on you. He smiled at you and began to speak.
"Uh, I-I'll have a coffee," he said nervously. You couldn't take your eyes off of him. His soft eyes, his prominent jawline, the stubble that was growing on his face. You were pulled out of your trance when you heard the bell of the door ding. You turned around to see one of the regulars, Wendy, and you greeted her. You turned back to the table of men and noticed Green Eyes, (a new nickname that you'd given him), still looking at you. You averted your attention to the other man sitting on the other side of the table.
"And for you, hun," you asked looking at the other man with long, brown hair. You could sense the other man giving this one a hefty death glare, but you kept your attention on him because that was the polite thing to do.
"I'll have the same," he said as he gave you a soft smile. You nodded, smiling back, and going to fetch their drinks and give Wendy her morning coffee. You walked up to her with a sympathetic look on your face.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. They walked in before you, so..." Your voice trailed off as you got three coffees, one in a to-go cup for Wendy. You handed it to her with a smile.
"Dear, you're fine. Besides, I would take their orders first no matter what. They're hot," Wendy whispered as she snuck a glance. You looked over also, noticing Green Eyes was staring. His face went red and he put his attention on the other man. Wendy grabbed her coffee, thanking you and giving you a quick hug. You sighed, walking back over to the table to deliver their coffee.
"Here ya go," you said as you placed the coffees in front of them. "Now, what would you two like to eat." Green Eyes looked over his menu and handed it to you as he spoke.
"Eggs and bacon. With an extra side of bacon," he said as he ran his hands through his hair. You rolled your eyes.
"You're gonna get a heart attack from all that grease, Green Eyes." His face lit up at the nickname and you blushed and looked down, embarrassed of him hearing you. The other man smiled and rolled his eyes as he went to tell you what he wanted.
"And I'll take an egg and cheese om-"
"Shut up, Sammy. So, Green Eyes, huh?" His eyes poured into yours and you nodded. "As much as I love that nickname, it's Dean." You smiled at him and bit your lip.
"I'm (Y/N)." Sam rolled his eyes again, stepping out of his chair and heading towards the bathroom. Dean looked at you and licked his bottom lip.
"Well, (Y/N), what time do you get off?"
"I own the place. I don't close until 9," you said as you took Sam's menu. He nodded and looked as if he was in deep thought.
"Well maybe, just maybe, I'll swing by around 5 and help you through the dinner rush. And maybe grab a slice of that pie that I saw when I walked in." You nodded, fiddling with the pen in your hand.
"Well maybe, just maybe, I'd like that. And I could give you a piece of pie now..." You began to walk away when you felt a hand wrap around your wrist. You heard footsteps behind you and when you turned, Dean was inches away from you.
"No. I've gotta come up for an excuse for my brother. He wouldn't believe me if I already had a slice. He'll tease me relentlessly if he finds out I'm coming here for a date," he said barely above a whisper. The door of the diner rang and you quickly pulled away, greeting your cook. Dean sighed, sitting back down, watching as Sam came back.
"Did you get a date?" You heard Sam say as he took a sip of his coffee and peeked over the mug. You blushed as Dean nodded and looked your way. You gave the order to your cook and leaned against the counter, looking over at Dean again. The sun was shining now more than ever and his eyes shined a bright green as he looked at you, too. God, you couldn't wait for tonight.
