So this story is based off of my incessant fear of thunderstorms so thank you brain for the inspiration (ALSO TRIGGER WARNING CAUSE PANIC ATTACKS) Love y'all - Emma

You jolted awake as soon as you heard the rumble of the thunder. Shaking slightly, you rubbed your eyes and took your phone off of your nightstand, checking the time. 3:42. Why was it so fucking early? You yawned, rolling over and snuggling a bit closer to your boyfriend, Dean. His arms tightened around you as he let out a soft moan as he stretched his legs.

"You okay, princess," he asked in a raspy voice. You nodded against his chest, flinching a bit when you saw the lighting illuminate your bedroom. Dean sighed and sat up, hugging you close to his chest. "It's just a little thunderstorm, (Y/N). It can't get inside."

"Well, it's still scary. With all the flashes of light and big booming sounds." As soon as you finished your sentence, the thunder became even louder and you heard the harshness of the rain outside. At this point, all hope of hiding the fact that you were shaking went out the door. You shook in Dean's arms as silent tears fell down your face. He tried to shush you, tried to sooth you, but your brain was just focused on the horrible storm that was happening right outside your window.

Your breathing became uneven and you couldn't help but start to hyperventilate. Dean's arms squeezed around you even tighter and he began trying to lift your head from his chest. You fought it, wanting to curl up into a ball and cry away the pain. He eventually got you to look at him and you had tears streaming down your face as you felt something blocking your airway.

"Hey, baby, it's alright. I'm right here okay? Follow my breathing okay? In, out, in, out; that's right (Y/N), just like that." Dean had you place your hand on his chest, making it a bit easier to follow when he was taking deep breaths in and when he was taking long breaths out. Eventually, you could breathe again, but you were still crying from the shock of the panic attack.

Dean stroked your hair as you snuggled into his shoulder, sniffling and choking on your sobs. He would kiss the top of your head and whisper sweet nothings, as he was trying to get you back to sleep. After about 25 minutes of silence besides your sobs, you lifted your head up and looked at his gorgeous green eyes.

"I don't deserve you." You heard crack of the lightning and jumped a tiny bit, which didn't go unnoticed by Dean.

"Yes you do. You deserve a whole lot better, but I could never give you up. Besides, who could take care of you during times like this better than me," he joked. You cracked a little small and kissed his nose.

"I'm so lucky to have you. I love you, Dean-o." You felt his chest vibrate as he chuckled from the nickname.

"I love you too, princess." And with that, you felt your eyes become heavy and you fell asleep focusing on Dean, not the storm that was raging outdoors. He was right; it couldn't hurt you.
