99, people! We're almost there! To celebrate, I'll be writing about the first character I ever wrote a oneshot for! It'll kinda be like a prequel to the first oneshot I've ever written so I'll put the text from the original oneshot in. Keep an eye out for that, and in the meantime, tide yourselves over with some Seto Kaiba goodness!

You slowly passed through the hallways of the huge building, nodding at/ignoring anyone you passed.

"Hi," a pretty woman said as you pushed open a door marked CEO Office. "Are you Y/n L/n, here for your interview?"

You nodded, keeping your head down. "Y-Yeah," you stuttered, peeking at her over your folder.

She gave you a kind smile and pressed a button on her phone. "It's not every interview that Mr. Kaiba asks to see the applicant himself. You're very lucky."

"Thank you," you mumbled, averting your eyes.

"Mr. Kaiba," you could hear her say, "Miss L/n is here to see you."

"Send her in," a deep voice said through the receiver.

You backed up a little, almost wanting to bolt out the door. The woman smiled again, this time directing you towards another door. "Go in through there. That's his main office. I hope it goes well," she told you.

You bowed slightly, then walked as quickly as you could through the door. It shut automatically behind you.

A young man, likely barely older than you, sat behind the desk, staring down at some paperwork. "Sit down," he said briskly. You darted to the chair in front of the desk, sitting as professionally as you could.

He looked up and said, "I'm assuming you've heard of me, but in case not, my name is Seto Kaiba and I run this company. And you are... ?"

"Y/n L/n," you whispered, fidgeting slightly.

"Speak up," he barked.

You restated your name, louder this time, remembering to make eye contact.

Two weeks later, to your surprise, Kaiba had hired you as an intern working in one of the offices. You sent him a thank-you card, expressing your gratitude. In return, he dropped off some chocolates during his weekly visit to the office.

"He comes by every week," a man who worked at the front desk of the department told you. "He's just making sure that everything is running smoothly."

Still, every Friday, you got a little nervous, especially when Kaiba walked up to you and asked for a cup of coffee. Every week.

Finally, on one of his visits, he told you that you could be promoted to front-desk manager if you would like. The man who was currently there would be moved to another office. You gladly accepted, as it meant a pay raise, but you were still scared to talk to people.

Unfortunately, the job came with a little harassment from unsatisfied people who came in to try and get a job or talk to an employee. Eventually, one guy even threatened to... you shook in your desk just thinking about it.

However, you had never seen Kaiba so furious as when he stalked into the office when the guy was snapping at you. He grabbed the guy's shoulder and practically threw him into the elevator.

"Was he harassing you?" he asked.

You nodded, keeping your head down. Kaiba sighed and took your arm, leading you back to another elevator. "You can go home for the day," he said, pushing the button for the ground floor. "I'll walk you out."

On the way down, he asked, "My secretary noted that you were extremely shy when you walked in for you interview. Why did you take the job at the front desk?"

You shrugged. "I need the money for my rent."

"I can move you to a different job, one that doesn't require you to talk to people," he offered, setting a hand on your shoulder. You looked up at him, surprised.

"Really?"

He nodded. "For the same pay."

You completely forgot about your shyness for just a moment and threw your arms around him. "Thank you so much, Mr. Kaiba!"

An awkward silence filled the elevator before he cleared his throat and said, "I would prefer Seto, if you don't mind."

You smiled in spite of yourself. "Okay."

Seto kissed the top of your head, causing you to freeze. "I'll see it taken care of as soon as possible," he promised.

Maybe KaibaCorp wouldn't be so bad after all.
