Yusei Fudo X Reader Part 2

Read the first oneshot first please!

You started off into the Satellite, clutching your cheek in terror. Was Yusei behind you? You hoped not. You never wanted to see his face again.

Why?

The answer lay in your very recent memories.

You bounced toward the workshop happily. It was another day in the Satellite that Yusei and you could just hang out, maybe duel a little!

When you got into Yusei's workshop, you found him working on something red. You sneaked up behind him, peeked over his shoulder, and gasped. "Yusei, is that a duel runner?"

Yusei dropped the wrench he was holding and ran for a black tarp that he hastily threw over his project. "It's nothing, Y/n. Don't worry about it."

Suspicion crept into your expression. "Are you sure? Why are you hiding it?" You walked up to him and cupped his cheek. "You can tell me."

"Fine!" Yusei snapped, his sapphire eyes dancing around the room, looking for something- an excuse. "It is a duel runner! I want to ride and duel and fight against Sector Security just like old times."

You gave him an odd look. "Yusei, you know what happened to Kalin-"

"BECAUSE OF ME!"

Yusei had never yelled at you before. He was generally a calm and collected guy, but this- this took you aback.

"Yusei-"

"NO!" Yusei screamed. "JUST STOP, Y/N! KALIN BETRAYED US, BUT I BETRAYED HIM! I TURNED HIM IN TO SECURITY AND THEN JACK LEFT AND NOW I'M ON MY OWN!" His hands were shaking as he turned to face you.

You walked up to Yusei and cupped his cheeks gently. "No, Yusei. You're not on your own. I'm here." You pressed your forehead to his.

Yusei let you linger there for a few seconds, but pushed you away carefully. "I know, Y/n. But Jack took something very important to me, and I want to get it back-"

"Yusei!" you interrupted. "Are you..... going to New Domino City?"

"I have a window of opportunity. Five minutes to get through a pipe." Yusei wasn't looking at you. "I promise it's going to be-"

You couldn't believe what you were hearing. First Jack, you thought, and now Yusei.

"Well, I guess I wasn't enough for you," you whispered. "Just like I wasn't enough for Jack."

Yusei turned around. "No, no! You are enough, I just-"

"YOU JUST WHAT, JERK?" you screamed. "YOU PROMISED THAT YOU'D NEVER LEAVE MY SIDE! YOU SAID WE'D TAKE ON THE WORLD HAND IN HAND, AND YOU'VE BEEN SECRETLY PLOTTING TO ESCAPE THIS LIFE?" Tears flowed down your face, drawing lines in the dust.

Yusei grabbed your wrists. "Y/n, please, listen-"

"LISTEN TO WHAT?" you returned. "YUSEI, YOU SWORE YOU'D STAY BY ME!"

"I'M TRYING, I SWEAR!" Yusei let go of your wrists.

"ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?"

"PRETTY DAMN SURE, Y/N!"

"OH, I'D REPHRASE THAT IF I WERE-"

The loud sound of a slap echoed through the garage. You froze, staring at Yusei. He in turn stared at the hand that had just hit you.

"Y/n," he started, but you whirled on your heel and stormed out into the rain.

"I knew I wasn't enough," you muttered.

You stared at the opposite wall of the alleyway, turning the deck Yusei had built for you over and over in your hands. A part of you itched to toss the cards into the wind, but another part said to hold onto them for as long as possible.

The top card, your favorite card, blew off the deck and you just barely caught it. Aether the Empowering Dragon.

Yusei had given you this card, saying it would bring you luck. You started at it. It was a rare card that Yusei should have kept, but he loved you so much that he was sure you deserved the card more than him.

"Y/n?" a voice called.

You looked up to see a pair of sapphire blue eyes staring at you. "Yusei," you whispered.

He walked up to you and kissed the cheek he had slapped. "I'm so sorry." He cradled you in his arms, shielding you from the rain.

"What about New Domino?" you asked.

Yusei stood, still holding you tightly. "Did you think I wouldn't bring you with me?" he asked, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips.

Your eyes lit up and you wrapped your arms around his neck. "Well, a little," you admitted.

"I love you so much, and I always will," Yusei said, taking your hand and leading you to his runner. "Let's go, babe."

A coat of red covered your cheeks at the name, but you followed him happily, nestling into the seat behind Yusei's. You wrapped your arms around his waist and kissed his cheek. "Let's rev it up, Yusei," you said, smiling.

Yusei nodded. "Adventure awaits, m'lady."

"Don't worry, I'm no damsel in distress," you joked as Yusei powered up the runner.

He laughed and gunned the engine, speeding towards his HQ and the path to freedom.

No matter what troubles lay at the other end of that tunnel, you'd always have Yusei, and that was what really mattered.

Yusei: *spits out drink* I have never slapped anyone!

Aly: Except maybe Jack.

Yusei: One. Time.

Jack: I PUNCHED YUSEI IN THE GUT TWICE IN ONE EPISODE, AND THIS IS THE CREDIT I GET?

Aly: Oh gods.
