"Congrats on your latest win, Kaiser," you said, lifting a glass of champange.

Across the table from you, Ryo Marafuji returned the toast. "Thank you, Y/n. It wasn't that hard."

"So what's your secret? Coming back from an 12-match losing streak with this much dignity must have been hard," you pointed out.

Ryo shrugged. "It was nothing, not a challenge at all. What's the twelve?"

"Edo Phoenix and the eleven other duelists you lost to in the week following," you noted, looking down at your phone.

He raised an eyebrow. "Tracking me on your phone? One might call that stalking."

You sighed and stuck your phone back into your satchel. "It's not stalking if you were put up to it, if you were, it's a job."

"Put up to it? Who put you up to it?" Ryo questioned, giving you a look.

"Who do you think?" you smirked. "I work for Edo Phoenix, of course he'd want to know how the Kaiser is doing."

Kaiser chuckled. "Fair enough. I didn't think you'd stoop so low as to work for that garbage, though."

You laughed. "Ryo, you've known me for years and you are well aware that I go for that kind of garbage."

"So you've got the hots for Edo," Ryo laughed. "I wonder what would happen if the press found out?"

"No idea, since you won't tell," you returned, sipping the champange.

Ryo laughed. "I can see the headline. 'Office Romance: Edo Phoenix Turned Cliche'."

"You wouldn't dare," you threatened, leaning across the table.

"Would I? This is a chance to tarnish my opponent's reputation. Of course, I'd only leak the story if you approved it." Ryo leaned back in his seat, tipping it precariously.

"Is that Hell Kaiser Ryo?" someone exclaimed from across the bar.

Kaiser stood abruptly. "Gotta go," he said. "I don't want to deal with stupid reporters." Then he was gone, sweeping out the door in a flash of shadow.

You chuckled to yourself and poured both glasses of champange into your flask. Slapping a dollar on the table, you left, securing your satchel under your jacket.

It was a short bus ride back to the office, so you figured Ryo wasn't back home yet. Still, you rode the elevator to your little cubicle so you could call and see. If anything happened to the someone that you saw as a brother, you'd kill whoever did it without mercy.

Which was why things had been taut between you and Edo lately.

You were all set to drop into your chair and call Ryo as you opened the door, but someone was at your desk.

"Mhm, I understand. She's gone out for a while so you'll have to call back if you want to talk to her about any potential relations she and I may have," Edo said into the receiver. "However, this is a situation that I would not prefer Hell Kaiser Ryo meddling in."

That absolute asshole.

Edo spotted you and chuckled quietly. "I look forward to that day, Kaiser. See you there." He hung up and smiled at you. "He told me to go to hell."

You burst out laughing. "Hell? That sounds like he's using his name to threaten you."

"He also had some interesting information for me. Apparently, you've been harboring feelings for me," he casually added, picking at his nails. "I mean, I can't blame you, I do find myself very attractive."

You froze for a good three seconds before blurting, "You're damn conceited, you know that, Phoenix?"

Edo laughed. "I realize that. I must be such garbage. But you like garbage boys, don't you?"

"All right, that's it, give me another half hour off, I need to go shove a knife into Ryo Marafuji's chest."

"What if I told you I returned your feelings?" Edo chuckled, standing up and walking around the desk.

Another time stop descended on you. You stared at him as he walked closer to you, unable to move. "R-Returned my feelings?"

"Granted, this was not my particular idea of how I'd tell you, but whatevs."

Edo was too damn chill.

The blue-eyed pro pushed you up against the door, setting his hands on your waist. He kissed you firmly, moving one hand to your cheek.

Unsure of what to do, you moved your lips against his a little, eyes still wide open. His were closed, so you copied him, shutting your eyes and moving your arms to settle around his neck.

Edo tilted his head so both he and you could breathe in the kiss. It was soft, gentle, not anything like what you would expect from the hardened teen.

"Honey, I'm serious. You need to get a job," your (parent) said.

Only fifteen, this was a shock to someone so young. You sighed and resigned yourself to job hunting for the next several weeks. Finally, you found an opening at Phoenix Corporation, a company that focused on designing new cards and developing their prodigee, Edo. You first landed a position as a card sorter.

Edo Phoenix, however, had other plans.

He sought you out and found you during your work. You remembered the day clearly.

"Y/n L/n?"

You looked up to see crystal blue eyes staring back at you. "Edo Phoenix! This is a surprise."

"Come on," Edo said, taking your hand and pulling you to your feet. "Come work as my secretary."

"A promotion?" you asked.

"Of sorts. You're good down here, so let's bring you up a little. Unless you don't want to," Edo smirked.

"Well, yeah I want a promotion!" you exclaimed, jumping to your feet.

"All right, then. You'll start....." Edo looked at his watch. "In ten minutes. Get your stuff and come on up."

You had never expected to fall in love with the pro. Let alone for him to like you back.

Still, it was kind of a shock for him to kiss you so quickly.

Edo pulled back finally, smiling gently. He cupped your cheeks in his hands, rubbing his nose with yours. "Happy birthday."

You smiled back. "Thank you, Mr. Phoenix."

"It's Edo to my lovely new girlfriend," Edo said, smirking. "Y/n." He kissed you again, moving his hands back to your waist.

You kissed him back, pulling him close. "Thank you, Edo," you whispered.

WOOOO! I GOT ANOTHER ONE DONE! YEAH!
