"Please?" She begged, tugging on your top. "Abigail," Loki softly called out, gesturing her over, "Let's let her think, okay? She's just worried." Abigail pouted with a nod and followed him out.
Sighing, you jumped onto the bed. 3 days, hours away, no one but a friend. You hummed, putting a hand to your forehead. Today was the day that Willow and her parents were going to leave for England. There were still a few hours until they were to arrive and her parent's had called.
"Hello Y/N," A wary mother's smile greeted you. "Hi, is something wrong?" You wondered. "Oh no, of course not, Willow requested that Abigail join us over there. The couple days earlier. I'm not sure how it would sit with you, but she really wanted me to ask you," She explained. "Oh," You muttered, "I see." Suddenly, the voice changed, "Hello Abigail's mum, can I speak to Abigail please?" You smiled slightly, "sure." After you handed your daughter the phone, you waited a while and saw her eyes sparkle. After the call ended, Abigail began asking you if she could go.
When you and Loki were young, her age, you both would stay away from his family for days at a time. It wasn't until you both were 12 that you spent over a week away.
You wanted her to blossom with confidence and independence running through her veins, but it gave you anxiety. Your chest burnt slightly at the possibility of her going for the few days, something happening, and not being able to go until later.
You assumed it was because, compared to Asgard, there were a lot more crimes on Midgard; a lot more bad. Asgard had it's good and bad sides, yes, but you had watched Midgard get worse. It terrified you to think of your daughter in pain, any type of pain. She was your daughter, your responsibility. You wanted to protect her from everything, love her, care for her. But parents always need to make hard decisions. This was one of them.
You finally made up your mind, after taking almost an hour. Slowly, you walked over to your door and slowly stepped towards the kitchen. Peering in, you saw Loki and Abigail watching something on the TV. You sighed — as Loki turned the TV off — eyebrows furrowed, your chest felt heavy and You gulped walking over.
"Mum!" She called out, hopefully. Loki looked over, worried after noticing your expression and vibe. "Can I?" She asked softly. Hesitantly, you looked down and nodded, "Yes." She jumped and hugged you at your waist, "Thank you." "Make sure that you've got everything, Abigail. They'll be here soon," Loki told her, walking over. Abigail nodded and ran off happily.
You sighed, "Was that the right thing to do?" He took you over to the sofa and sat down with you. "I didn't want to stop her when it's exactly what we did," You added, "But this isn't Asgard." He held your hand as the two of your looked infront of yourselves. "You chose fine, dear," Moving your hand into both of his own, he looked at you, "It's hard. I wouldn't have given a different answer though. We may not be in Asgard, but she isn't exactly Midgardian." "She's not like these other children," You muttered. "Which is why she's going to be extra fine, we'll make sure that she wears that watch too. Don't worry," He told you, feeling weird (but used to) the act of publicly comforting another.
Half an hour passed and Willow had arrived with her parents. The girls hugged and the parents greeted eachother. There wasn't a lot of time to chat, so you all immediately headed over to where the aircraft was. "Everything will be fine, they'll take you there but come back after, alright?" Tony rushed. The parent's nodded.
After apologies surrounding Abigail and the trip, everything was cleared and they were about to leave. "Abi?" You called her as she gave over her bags. "Yes?" She ran back. "Do you have your watch?" You asked, eyebrows raised. She nodded, pulling back her jumpers sleeve, "I always have it on! Don't worry mum." She hugged you tightly, and kissed your cheek, "I'll be okay." Moving over, she hugged Loki and kissed his cheek too. "I'll miss you," He whispered. "Me too," You added with a sad smile. "I'll miss you two too!" She said, waving brightly as she boarded the plane.
Your heart sank and your eyes almost let the tears escape. Taking a deep breath in, you reassured yourself that she would be fine.
When they had finally left, including everyone to wave them off, you turned to Loki, "I miss her so much already." "I know," He looked over to you, "It's going to be fine. You will be, she will be and then we'll be with her. Alright?" You nodded with a weak smile.
You had noticed the change in the way he acted a long while ago and it made your heart warm. He wasn't one to be so soft publicly like this, so all of a sudden for him to do this was, at first, odd. But as it slowly kept happening, you felt better about it. It was different, but it was as if you weren't the only one who could see his feelings. Sure, he doesn't show all of his emotions, but this care and love he shows is more than a plus. It's almost like an achievement. You knew things would change for him, that he would be a lot more relaxed at some point, and for it to finally be here suddenly makes you feel content.
