---------------------------------
It was the day of the rally, and all the newsies from almost every New York territory was there, rooting on each other or simply calling out Pulitzer's name in vain. And one of those territories...was the Manhattan newsies. But what wasn't in the Manhattan newsies made the rally come to a screeching halt, Newsies left and right wondering where the hell that person is as all the newsies start chanting that person's name.
And that person...is Jack.
The chant echoed off the theater walls, making the chant sound more like a war cry than a special want for a leader.
A certain newsie in the Manhattan group [named Wrench] joined in on the chants, but instead of his voice sounding like that he wanted Jack, his voice made it sound like he needed Jack.
All of a sudden, Wrench forgot about where he was for moment, starting to drift out of thought. As Wrench started to drift out of thought, he started to curiously wonder where Jack is. If it weren't for Wrench's loyalty, he would try to sneak out of the rally and curiously try to find Jack.
But because he's reliable, he stays with the group of the Manhattan newsies that jump around, shout insults, and cheer around him, acting almost like a bunch of little kids who can't sit still.Wrench snapped out of his thoughts and glanced around curiously, suddenly seeing Davey step forward.
"Dave?"
He questioned in a bewildered manner, tilting his head slightly."Newsies of New York! Look at what we've done! We got Newsies from every pape and every neighborhood here tonight. Tonight, you're making history. Alright? Tonight, we declare that we're just as much as a part of newspaper as any reporter or editor. Right? We're done being treated like kids. From now on, they'll treat us as equals!"
All the newsies, including Wrench, cheered and hollered from Davey's speech. But while Wrench cheered, one certain curious thought lingered in his mind from before: Where's Jack?
Suddenly, Jack appeared almost out of thin air and walked over to Davey, telling him something about acting like a adult.
Wrench watched as Jack made his way to the middle of the stage, strangely feeling as happy as Crutchie used to be, while also having a bunch of curious thoughts flooded in his mind.
Jack's here. Well, Jack broke a promise about being on time but he's here.
As long as he stays loyal to the newsies at the rally.
That's all that mattered to Wrench.Wrench and the other newsies watched as Jack started to speak in a firm manner about the strike, the union, and Pulitzer. Everything was going great...until Jack pulled out a wad of cash. A damn wad of cash.
"If we disband the union, he will not raise prices for two years."
The other newsies threw insults at Jack left and right, while Wrench looked at Jack, baffled. Why would Jack do that?! Jack was supposed to remain loyal to the newsies, not turn his back on them!
Wrench lowered his head slightly while insults were being thrown. He needs to talk with him. And fast.
