It took a while for Elizabeths tears to dry. We ended up staying in the gardens till the moon cast its moonbeams around us and its silvery glow outlined my wife's beautiful face. Her beauty took my breath away, and with a trembling hand, I tilted her head and brought my lips down on hers.
I wanted to see her naked body illuminated by the silvery moon. I wanted to touch every inch of her and inhale her scent until I was drunk with it. I wanted to tell her how my heart swells with love for her. But dared not.
I pulled my lips away from hers and looked into her eyes. They were empty, void of life. My heart sank. She allowed me to kiss her, but it was all she was willing to give. It was too soon to ask for more. With a heavy heart, I lifted my body up, and pulled my wife along with me, and we walked silently back to the castle. It is going to be a long night, I am sure of it.
As I lay next to her in our bed, I am consumed with need for her, but dare not tell her so. She has pulled her body all the way to the other end of the bed, as far away from me as possible.
I felt lonely and scared. The fear of losing her had me up all night. When the first hint of morning came I finally fell into a deep sleep.
When I woke up what felt like hours later, i noticed that Elizabeth was absent from the bed. fear gripped me and I tried to calm my beating heart. I quickly jumped out of bed and threw on a fresh new kilt and left the room in search of my wife.
After searching everywhere for her, she was no where to be found in the castle, so I made my way out in the court yard and saw her taking a stroll with a few ladies of the court, looking refreshed and happy.
I sighed and my heart relaxed a little, knowing that Elizabeth is not sulking any more, but moved foward and befriended the ladies of the court. Something she had never done before. I was jealous of all the attention they got from my wife, while I was being ignored.
"I hope you have finally learned a lesson ALexander!" Mary hissed from behind me as she made her way to Elizabeth and the others.
