Scenario: A long and bloody expedition looms over the survey corps. With the expedition over, no one can be happy with the looses they faced. Reader-Chan is the one person who feels as though she can truly help the others cope. But above all, she now wishes to help herself and confess her feelings for Levi.
Warning: This chapter is meant to be short, depressing, and give you a chance to cry your worries out. I do not own any of the songs which is included in this chapter as they all are from Attack on Titan. I highly recommend listening to them as you read this chapter!
Levi's Point of View
Despite the heavy down pour, it was unavoidable to see the steam rise from the many dead titans surrendering us and the blood of our comrades rushing through the land. I clenched my fist in anger. Though we had won this expedition, it felt far from it. We had lost far too many. No one bothered to move unless it was to run to their fallen comrade's side. No words were spoken, but only yells and gasp for the dead and loved ones. There was more tears than there was rain. How could this have happened? I felt tears rise to my eyes as I looked down and let my soaked hair drip to the muddy ground. I suddenly felt the rain stop hitting my body and I looked up. It was squad leader (Your name). She held an umbrella over my body and let her take the rain fall.
I wanted to lean in and embrace her. This was my first time seeing her since the beginning of the expedition and I wasn't for sure if she had made it through. Blood covered her entire uniform and hands as it was obvious she tended to the wounded. Her herself, had cuts and bruises throughout her body and it was easy to see through the tears of her uniform. Though we had lost so many, I was grateful to not have lost the one person cared about over all others. I had always loved (Your name) but never had the courage to confess. She suddenly placed a hand on my shoulder and we met our gazes. She smiled softly at me and nodded before handing me the umbrella and walking towards the cadets and other squad leader who cried around us. She took a deep breath in before letting a soft yet loud melody carry out her lips.
She lost her brother a month agoHis picture on the wallAnd it reminds meWhen she brings me coffee, her smileI wish I could be with her until my last dayShe said she gave all her love to me (I said I gave all my love to you)we dreamt a new life (We dreamt a new house)Some place to be at peaceBut things changed, suddenlyI lost my dreams in this disasterI'm cryingMissing my loverI don't have the powerOn my side foreverOh where is my loverI got no powerI'm standing alone, no wayCalling out your nameWe don't know what is wrong tonightEverybody's got no place to hideNo one's left and there's no one to go onAll I know is my life is gone
As she sung, everyone's cries would slowly subside. It was as if she was comforting all of us with her song. As I watched her I couldn't help but notice when she would quiver or when her voice would break because she wad the verge of tears herself. I wondered how she felt but at the same time I believed I could feel her feelings in her voice. Half way through her song others started to get up and grab umbrellas which had been brought to us after the fighting. Slowly everyone started to gather together and comfort each other. When (Your name) was done singing she went on to another song.
It was like a nightmare
And it's pain for me
Because nobody wants to die too fast
Remember the day of grief
Now it's strange for me
I could see your face, I could hear your voice
Remember the day we met
And it's pain for me
Because nobody wants to die too fast
Remember the day we dreamt
Now it's pain for me
I could see your face, I could hear your voiceCan't look back, they will not come back
Don't be afraid, it's time after time
So once again, I'm hiding in my room
The peaceful times are what make us blind"See you can't fly, if you never try"
You told me, oh, long ago
But you left the wall, outside the gate
Now more than ever, it's realIt was like a nightmare
And it's pain for me
Because nobody wants to die too fast
Remember the day we dreamt
Now it's strange for me
I could see your face, I could hear your voice
Remember the day we met
And it's pain for me
Because nobody wants to die too fast
Remember the day we dreamt
And it's pain for me
I could see your face, I could hear your voiceSing for reluctant heroes
Oh, give me your strength
Your lives are too short
Sing for reluctant heroes
I wanna be brave like you"See you can't fly, if you never try"
You told me, oh, long ago
But you left the wall, outside the gate
Now more than ever, it's realIt was like a nightmare
And it's pain for me
Because nobody wants to die too fast
Remember the day we dreamt
Now it's strange for me
I could see your face, I could hear your voice
Remember the day we met
And it's pain for me
Because nobody wants to die too fast
Remember the day we dreamt
And it's pain for me
I could see your face, I could hear your voiceSing for reluctant heroes
Oh, give me your strength
Your lives are too short
Sing for reluctant heroes
I wanna be brave like youI'm not for sure how something so simple could bring everyone together, but it did. When (Your name) noticed that everyone had calmed down and started to seek comfort in each other, she stopped singing. I don't think I will ever know why I only watched her instead of returning her favor and holding an umbrella over her head, but I do know why I approached her when she was done. I had to hold onto her but while I approached her she turned around to face me and spoke. For reason I couldn't hear her words but I could read her lips and knew exactly what she said.
"I love you, Levi."
I sprinted forward and hugged (Your name) as tightly as possible.
"I love you too, (Your name)."
There were no other words that needed to be spoken. Our actions were enough. It is true when they say you never know what's going to happen to you or a loved one. I would have never guessed the disaster which we faced would come during our life time, but I do know one thing... Cherish those you love while they are still bedside you.
