"Katherine, what's her deal?" asked Ron.
Shifting my dirty-blonde head towards my friend, Ron, I asked, "Who?"
"The-the girl. Over there," he motioned his head towards the girl in front of him a couple tables away in the hall.
Directing my eyes to a sixth year girl with frilly hair and big cheeks, the creeper, whom I knew as Lavender Brown, stared at Ron in such a loving way, it made my blood boil. I could feel my cheeks getting red with anger until Ron's hand touched my arm, making my stomach flip.
"Katherine, are you okay? You look like a bloody tomato!"
Cooling down, my eyes met with the table and nodded, "Yeah, sorry."
Keep your cool, Katherine. We don't want Ron to know about my feelings for him, I thought. At least not yet.
"Okay," his hand came off me. He soon left due to Quidditch practice within seconds, leaving me alone with my feelings.
Pulling some hair behind my ear, I continued to read about potions for my class, but suddenly was interrupted by my friend, Seamus, clumsily sitting next to me.
I sighed and tried to concentrate. "Hey, Seamus."
"Hey there to yourself, Katherine. You got something on Ron, eh?"
My body freaked and I could my palms getting sweaty. Burrowing my eyebrows, I said with my eyes on the book, "What are you talking about? Of course, I don't!"
"Oi, don't be lying! I saw your tomato soup moment. I was ready to get you some water to cool you off," replied Seamus, chuckling at the end.
My eyes suddenly noticed Ron in the corridor, talking to Lavender who was being all over him. He seemed a little uncomfortable in her presence, but it didn't stop my blood from boiling.
"You love him, don't you?" sang Seamus.
I closed my book in anger still looking at Ron and quickly, I left Seamus with my finals words of, "No, I don't, Seamus. Nor I ever will."
Seamus laughed in shock and yelled, "Oh come on, Katherine!"
I ignored him and began to walk towards Ron, but when I came a couple yards away from them, I heard Ron and her laughing. Then a single touch from Lavender was seen on his arm. Like a swallowed a frog, I kept silent while jealousy ran through my body. Didn't just a couple minutes ago, Ron was freaked by her attention on him? I didn't understand, but when they had separated ways, I walked Ron to quidditch practice with small talk about different things.
I didn't realize how hard and tight I had held my book when I walked with him. My arms felt strained from my grip on the book and pain was in my chest. The tenseness in my body was just from Ron. And that tenseness was beginning to turn into anger from Lavender.
Days had past and Lavender was beginning to grow onto Ron. She was around him more and more while in each day, more affection was shown. And while the affection began to grow, the more I stayed quiet.
It was consuming me. The jealousy, the anger, and the love for Ron began to be shown in my everyday actions. I couldn't sit next to Ron because of just the thought of Lavender and him. More of my friends bugged me about my feelings for Ron and the more I just didn't even answer them. I told them no or the silent treatment. But I believe deep inside they knew that I did like Ron.
Ron on the other hand was bothering me. He always tried to get me talking, but I just stayed silent. I couldn't talk to him with such anger and envy for Lavender. How could he fall for such a dumb-witted girl like her? He can do better.
