"Happy birthday, Courtney."
Peeling my eyes open from my sleep, I saw my crazy, curly hair mother, sitting next to me. Her priceless smile gleamed at me and soon, her lips met my cheek.
"Hey mom," I said, arising into a sitting position.
"Ah! Happy birthday, Courtney!" exclaimed a voice in the distant. Unexpectedly, my father entered the room with a gigantic grin on his while he held a waffle cake. His chestnut hair was neatly combed, but his red bowtie was a bit crooked.
I laughed and he placed the waffles on my bed. His lips connected to my forehead.
"You've got to stop growing," he whispered. He backed away and came by mom's side. Giving each other a kiss, dad's arm slipped around her waist. Shifting her eyes to his bowtie, mom rolled her eyes and quickly fixed it.
"I don't understand how you always get your bowties crooked," she stated with her hands shaping the fabric the way it was supposed to be.
"Well, maybe I do it on purpose, sweetheart," dad remarked as he gave my mother a wink.
"Really, dad?" I said as I shoved some waffles in my mouth.
He laughed. It was nice to see my parents back together as a couple. With my father and mother both Timelords, time always have them on a tight grip, making it difficult to really see each other. Honestly, it was pure luck that my father and mother crossed paths when defeating the Daleks in South Africa a week ago. How I wished I joined them.
Believing something would happen to me, my parents never let me join them on adventures. Arguments would fly because of this. Since I practically am a Timelord, I should explore the universe and discover different planets, different aliens, different cultures. I couldn't wait to get out of the TARDIS and go on my own journeys. But knowing my parents, I would never be allowed to get out of the TARDIS.
"Courtney," my mom began and looked at dad with a smile.
"We have a special trip planned for this big day," my dad stated with his green eye twinkling.
Suddenly, I froze in my chewing. With my eyes wide open, I quickly swallowed my food as my heart began to pound. This can't be happening.
"No, no, no, no! You can't be serious! Really?" I exclaimed with shock all over my face.
"You ready for your first adventure, sweetheart?" asked mom with a smirk.
Still speechless, my arms flung around my parents and held them tight. My chest squeezed with excitement and my heart was about to explode.
"I love you guys so much," I mumbled as I felt the sudden safety inside their arms. These two people were literally the protectors of this galaxy and there was no other place I'd rather be than in my parents' arms.
Later
Clenching my hands together in front of the TARDIS door, I waited for my parents to come down. The fact still stayed inside me that I was to go on my first alien adventure. Hand in hand, mom and dad came down the stairs. My dad quickly whispered into mom's ear, "Maybe we should of picked a better planet."
"Darling, no. It's a good experience. Not stop freaking out and let's go!" she replied.
When they approached, they both had grins on their face and soon, dad reached the blue door.
With his head tilted towards me, his smile shown his happy self as he asked, "You ready?"
Grinning, I replied, "I've always been ready."
