"Here you go sir, your coffee," I remarked as I set down a man's coffee.

"Thank you, Courtney," the man replied as he took a sip.

With a smile I left him to go to another table and assist another customer. I had been working in this small coffee shop for a few months now, meeting new people and serving delicious cups of coffee. The family who has owned this shop were literally the closest family I had since I had been an orphan for the rest of my life. I never knew who my mother and father were, but people had always told me that they were run aways. And I guess I was kinda like them too.

"Hello sir, what can I get you today?" I asked as I slipped my notebook out and pen.

The man with the bowtie and cowboy hat lifted his head up and took a good look at me.

"What's your name? You look strangely familiar to me," the strange man asked.

Giving him a confused look, I said, "Uh Courtney, sir."

To keep the ball moving, I asked him, "Why what's your name?"

"I'm the Doctor."

"Doctor...who?"

"Just the Doctor."

"Well, uh, Doctor, can I get you anything?" I asked with a smile. I sorta like this Doctor already.

"Just some hot cocoa. Thanks," the Doctor replied.

Smiling, I thanked him and left to make some cocoa. When I entered the kitchen, a horrid stink spread across the kitchen. Crumpling my nose up, I made a face as I reached a pitcher of water to heat up. But when I turned around to the oven, a slimy green man, definitely who was not human, grabbed me and held me with his hand on my mouth. I tried to scream, but it just came muffled.

Suddenly, the green monster let me go and started to squirm plus steam. I jumped away from him and when it fell down dead, the Doctor appeared with a green torch in his hand.

"What...what was that?" I questioned while still in complete shock.

"A Stankous." The Doctor put away his flashlight in his coat pocket.

"Excuse me?"

"You've never heard of them," he exclaimed.

"Um, am I supposed to?"

He sighed, grabbed my hand, and ran out of the shop.

"Where are we going?" I asked as I let go of his hand when we were outside.

"To the TARDIS."

"Ok, you seriously need to explain this whole thing."

He scratched his neck and looked at me.

"Well, I'm Timelord."

"A what?"

"A Timelord. Time traveller, not from this world, blue box time machine," he pulled out his green light,"sonic screwdriver and I basically got everything."

"I don't think so cause I'm still completely confused."

"Ok, but in order for me to do that, I need to show you something."

For the first time, this Doctor looked so familiar to me too. I feel like I had seen those green eyes before and his chestnut hair too. I examined his features. Brown hair, soft green eyes, literally no eyebrows, pronounced jaw and chin, while he was quite tall and lanky.

"Courtney?" he asked.

"Yeah?"

"Are you alright? Cause you were staring at me for about five minutes."

"Yeah. Yeah. Sorry."

Again, the Doctor took my hand as we came across a big blue police box.

"Is this your time machine?" I asked, looking towards him.

"Yep. Now be prepared for your mind to be blown."

As soon as he opened the door, my mind had a mini explosion. This box was literally bigger on the inside than the outside. My mouth opened as stared at all the gadgets and admired everything this man had.

"Well, say something!" the Doctor exclaimed as his eyes lit up with delight.

I laughed and brought my hand to my mouth. "Wow."

"Just wow?"

"Yep."

"Not even fantastic, or stupendous, or extraordinary?"

"It's all of those words in one word. Wow."

He laughed at what I said.

"Go and explore!" he offered and waved his hands up.

"But what about that...green monster?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"I've got some researching to do about that, but go! Do whatever you want!" the Doctor pronounced.

I laughed as I bit my lip and quickly ran up some steps. I turned around and he motioned for me to go. Feeling excited, I opened every door that I saw and observed every room that I entered. I searched through the gigantic library, admired the pool, and even played tennis in his private tennis court.

About an hour later with a smile on my face, I came back to the Doctor exclaiming, "Doctor, you're completely amazing and brilliant!"

But I noticed that he seemed distracted and depressed. He was leaning against the TARDIS towards the center of it. His jaw clenched and took a quick sniffle.

"Doctor, is something wrong?" I asked as I came by my side.

After a few moments silence, still looking away, he stated, "I had a wife, Courtney. A wonderful and fantastic wife. And she became pregnant suddenly with my child. She took the child away from me because she was afraid it would become a target for all of our enemies. For years, I searched for my kid and now," his teary eyed face turned towards me, "I've found my lost child. And you are my lost child."

Shock, confusion, joyfulness, mixed emotions entered my body as I thought this man is my dad. I wanted to say something, but I couldn't. I didn't know what to say. My body had frozen to the ground and my eyes moved to the ground.

"Courtney, please say something. I beg of you," pleaded the Doctor.

With a tear slowly coming down my face, I finally looked towards him and asked, "How?"

"I scanned your DNA through the TARDIS's computer system and it matched mine and your mother's."

I suddenly felt weak, and leaned my hand on the console. I needed to think. The green eyes, his posture, they way he acted, seemed so...me. After some moments of silence, I turned my head towards the Doctor and said, "Dad?"

All of sudden, I was in his arms and I felt so safe in them. My dad squeezed me harder and it seemed like if he let go, he'll lose me. My arms wrapped around his back and snuggled my neck into his neck.

"I love you, Courtney. I love you so much and I will never let you go," my father whispered into my ear.

"I-I love you too, dad."

Soon parting, the Doctor's eyes had tears and quickly wiped them away. I laughed and cried happy tears as he smiled. Joy filled every single part of my body, realizing this man is my father and he will be with me forever.

"So about those Stankous?" I asked.

He laughed and asked, "Ready to defeat your first aliens with your father?"

I smirked. "Any day."
