I strolled through Central Park, enjoying the scenic view. It was sunny and warm out and I couldn't resist of going outside. Suddenly, I saw Peter, one of my good friends, sitting on a bench looking at his phone.
I smiled and quickly walked up to him.
"Hey," I said as I sat next to him.
"Hey Kaitlyn," he mumbled.
"What are you-" I stopped where I was as I looked at his phone.
It was pictures of his now dead girlfriend Gwen. She was so beautiful with her blonde hair and blue eyes. I can see why Peter fell in love with her.
"Peter, do you wanna talk about it?" I asked, feeling concerned for him.
Peter sniffled and shook his head. "Not really."
"Alright," I mumbled and took a good look at him. Peter's hair was waved up like it usually is with his big brown eye and chiseled nose. Overall, he is probably the most attractive guy I have ever known and seen.
"Peter, you wanna hang out at my house for a bit? Maybe...maybe that will take your mind off about Gwen?" I offered, hoping he wasn't offended at my comment.
He was silent for a while until he nodded his head and said a soft sure.
We took a cab back to my house and the ride was as silent as a standing in a room alone. Reaching there finally, Peter opened my door for me as we headed inside. We said a quick hello to my mom and ran upstairs to my room.
I jumped unto my bed as Peter slowly looked around my room. We finally started a conversation going and started talking about clubs and what colleges we were gonna go to. The subject moved on to something else.
"Remember the first day I met you?" I asked.
"Yeah, you were such a nerd," he said with a smile.
I laughed and said, "Yes I was. And I was walking across the street and all of sudden, this suited man comes up and takes me away like I was a piece of trash or something before I was to be hit by a car!"
"And the first thing you yelled was 'Mommy!' " chuckled Peter, looking at the ground.
"Was that a laugh I just heard?" I asked, standing up from my bed.
He smirked and said, "What? I can laugh!"
I laughed back at him and I felt the urge to give him a hug.
"Oh ok," he exclaimed and slowly gave me a hug back.
"I'm glad I caught you," he whispered in my ear while still in the hug.
"I'm glad you did too," I said back.
His head moved upwards suddenly, and he let go of me. Peter started to walk towards a picture on my billboard and he took it down.
Oh. I meant to put that away. It was a picture of Gwen and I together when we graduated from high school. She had a huge smile on her face as I did too. Gwen and I were never close friends, but I knew her well since I was practically Peter's only other friend.
"I took this," he said, staring at it.
"I know," I said back and took a few steps forwards by his side.
"She looked so happy," Peter said.
"She could of stayed happy if she..." his voice weakened and trailed on.
"Peter-"
"I- I have to go," he said suddenly. Peter grabbed his backpack and rushed to my bedroom door.
"Peter!" I yelled and grabbed his arm, but he was too strong and shrugged it off.
"Stop! Please!" I said as he ran down the steps. Fortunately, my mother was gone and I told him to stop again.
"What?!" he cried back with tears rolling down his face.
I had enough. Of this running away, not facing his problems, not moving on and other things.
"Peter, you have to stop this!" I said loudly in our living room that we were standing in.
"Stop what, Kaitlyn?" he asked.
"You know exactly what I mean!" I said a bit louder.
He looked down, hurt by my comment.
"Peter, you have to move on. You can't just continue to run away from this. She is dead, do you understand?" I remarked, sorta yelling at the last sentence.
Peter's now red eyes stung into mine.
"You can't just stop being Spiderman because Gwen is gone!"
"Gwen was the only thing that kept me being Spiderman! She was the only one who I thought when I was out there! She was the only thing I could back to," he shouted back at me.
"Well I guess you are gonna have to find someone else to go back to!" I yelled, taking a step towards him.
We stood silent for a while, looking at each other. I felt my eyes soften a bit and his too.
"I have to go," he mumbled and before I knew it, Peter was gone.
I felt heavy hearted at what I said to Peter. I realized it was mean and I just let myself go. But at the same time, it felt good. It felt good to let it all out. These past weeks I've kept it all inside me, just seeing him not moving on.
I plopped on my couch and sighed. My stomach turned to that guilty feeling again and I curled up, feeling sorry for what Peter has gone through.
Later
It was midnight. I couldn't sleep and all I though about was Peter. I sat with my bowl of ice cream in front of me as I watched the Walking Dead, one of my favorite tv shows.
Soon, the doorbell rang and I stood up to answer it.
I opened the door to see Peter standing there with his hands in his pockets. It was pouring and he had I guess ran all the way to my house because he soaking wet. Peter looked especially hot with his gray shirt wet and you could sorta see his pack of abs.
"Peter?" I asked.
Suddenly, he took a step forward and he crashed his lips into mine. With Peter's hands grabbing my face, I gladly started kissing him back. I held him tighter while he put more pressure on the kiss. It was wonderful and I was so happy that he had moved on. And I was the one he moved onto to.
We separated and took deep breaths. Our foreheads touched and I looked up at him.
"I've finally found the person to go back to, Kaitlyn," he said, having his brown eyes stare at mine.
I smiled as he said, "And that's you."
