Thirty minutes had past and still my date hasn't arrived yet. I was sitting by a table in a corner, waiting impatiently for my date to come. I groaned softly and observed the room to see if my date was sitting at a wrong table. But no.
Giving up, I sighed and left my table. I thought maybe I'll take a quick loo break when all of a sudden, I slammed right into a man, making me drop my purse.
"Goodness! I am so sorry!" I exclaimed as I went to pick up my purse, but the man that I bumped into got there first.
The blonde, handsome man with brown eyes handed me my purse and apologized, telling me that it was his fault. But of course, I kept disagreeing. We kept going until the man said,"Look, let me buy you a cup of coffee please. An apologetical gift."
I sighed and smiled. "Fine. But please, let me buy you something!"
"No, no need too."
"Please, just a Danish or something?"
"I'm not hungry."
"Then a cup of tea or coffee then."
"Miss-"
"Please, call me Catherine or Cat."
The stranger sighed and gave in. I smiled at my victory.
"I'm John. John Watson," replied the man and put his hand out.
"Well, as I said before I'm Catherine, but you can call me Cat," I stated, shaking his hand.
"Shall we find a seat?" asked John, motioning his hand to a booth.
I grinned. "Sure."
For the rest of day, I considered John my-unexpected-date. We drank our freshly brewed coffee and chit-chatted. John had been living in a flat with his friend, Sherlock Holmes while I was renting a flat a few blocks down from them. He continued talking about this interesting friend of his, telling me that he considered himself "a high-functioning sociopath." Honestly, I laughed, including John.
Soon, our time had come to a close. We stood up and said our goodbyes, but of course, exchanged numbers.
"Well, Cat, I've had an extraordinary time with you tonight and I hope we can do it again," John said with a nice smile.
I felt myself blushing at his comment. "Same here, John. We should."
He agreed and we parted ways.
Weeks past and for a while, I never heard from John. I thought about him often though. His blonde wavy hair, doe brown eyes, and how that we were about the same height. John was no doubt about it short and handsome.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed as I was reading a book on my couch. Lifting it up, I saw John's number. Immediately, I answered it.
Me: Hello?
John: Oh, uh, hi there, Cat! How are you this morning?
Me: I'm well. Just sitting here, reading a book. What about you?
John: Well, I'm fine. Anyways, I'm calling to see if you would like to, I don't know, go out?
John seemed insecure about this "date." Like he was unsure if I would accept or he think it would be weird since we just met each other a few weeks ago.
But I smiled and felt special about him asking and of course, I accepted. He continued on telling me he would pick me up around six and to dress pretty casual. After his call, I bit my lip and smiled. Suddenly, I found myself squealing on the couch, but realizing my childish act soon stopped.
Running to my closet, I examined my clothes to chose what to wear. Smirking, one popped up that would be perfect.
Later
"So what's this remarkable place we're going to?" I asked.
John and I were in a cab while I was curious of where our date was.
"Just wait and see." John turned towards me and eyed my outfit.
"You looked wonderful by the way, Cat," he complimented.
Blushing, I glanced at my outfit. Green dress with spaghetti straps to match my red hair, a brown belt, and tan wedges. My hair was curled in waves and I admired my golden bracelet.
Soon, we stopped and suddenly, John placed something around my head. A blindfold. I laughed and felt around the cloth.
"John, what is this?" I asked, as I heard a door open.
"Don't worry. I'm not going to kidnap you or any of that sort," I heard him so.
Helping me step out of the car, a warm hand took mine and lead me out into the crispy, cold air. After a couple more feet of walking, John told me to sit down and I obeyed. Suddenly, we started to move. Laughing at John's surprise, he soon carefully took off the blindfold.
"Now, what do you think?" he asked.
I gasped because I could see all of London. Then I realized. "Are we on the London Eye?"
John smirked and said, "Yes. Yes we are."
I laughed and gazed out again. Lights, houses, and parks were seen from the tippy top of this ferris wheel.
"It's beautiful," I stated, still looking at London, "Thank you John!"
Turning towards him, he chuckled, "Of course!"
All of a sudden, goosebumps prickled on my skin as I felt cold. I guess John noticed because he immediately offered me his coat, which I gladly accepted.
Scooting closer to him, I leaned my head against his shoulder and took a deep breath. His coat smelled exactly like him. I heard a small 'oh' from John, but I didn't mind. His arm snaked around my body and his warmth felt good.
"I feel so small now, being on top of here," I uttered.
"Not to me," John replied and looked at me.
Turning my head towards him, I asked, "Are you calling me fat?"
Horror and embarrassment spread across his face.
"No, no! I mean-"
I laughed and John still looked confused. "I'm just kidding."
"You know you ruined the moment."
"No, I didn't."
Feeling the urge to kiss him, I planted my lips on him. Surprised, he moaned, but started to kiss me back. His other arm laid gently on my side while my free hand touched his cheek. Soon, our moment ended with me smiling in the kiss.
Still in each other's arms, John declared, "You know, you don't usually have the first kiss on a first date."
I chuckled. "But this was my second date."
John grinned. "Well, I guess if you could consider that one at the restaurant."
He simply smiled and planted a kiss on my forehead as we continued to look at our hometown, London.
