Yanxi's POV

At around 7 p.m., I finished taking a fresh shower. I went to my room and wore my comfortable gray shorts with a plain white oversized t-shirt. Then I dried my wet hair with a small towel. Just then, the house bell rang. My face lightened up and I quickly ran downstairs.

I opened the door and saw Yaowen, standing in front with a backpack. He was wearing a pink t-shirt and long black pants. His face lightened up when he saw me, "Yanxi jie-jie!"

"Yaowen!" I squealed and hugged him. "I miss you so much!"

I broke the hug and scanned him, "Woah you've grown so much taller."

He smiled proudly, "Of course."

"Hey Yaowen!" suddenly Qilin appeared behind me and gave a brotherly hug to him.

"You guys have fun, I'm going back up!" I smiled and closed the door after Yaowen went inside.

"Wait jie!" Yaowen called.

I smiled, "Hm?"

"T--this is for you," he hesitantly handed me a small white box with a pink ribbon on it.

I took it and smiled widely, "Woah, thank you, Yaowen! But what's this?"

"You can open it later. I bought it with my own money, I hope you'll like it," he shyly said as he stole some glances at me.

I laughed and ruffled his hair, "My Yaowen has grown up already."

Qilin cleared his throat, "Ehem, Yaowen. Do you perhaps like my sister?"

Yaowen widened his eyes, "Of course not! I gave her this because it's been so long!"

"Yeah, Qilin. Don't say nonsense thing," I looked at him weirdly but smiled after that. "Okay I'm going back up. Thank you, Yaowen!"

Once I reached my room, I sat on my mini sofa and slowly opened the box. My eyes were shining the moment I saw what's inside. It's a necklace, with a heart shape and pearl pink color.

"Woah.."

How much is this? How did he manage to buy this? It must be really expensive.

 ---

I was going back and forth near the door with uneasy feelings. It's already midnight, and Karry had not arrive. I texted him, I called him, but no reply. Qilin and Yaowen have slept already.

I bit my lip, "Where is he? It's raining outside."

I flinched when I heard the thunder, "Aish, he's starting to make me worry!"

Okay, now I have to admit it. I care about him. But only care as a friend, no more than that.

Just then, I heard the bell rang. I immediately opened the door and I was shocked when I saw Karry all wet, his face was so pale.

"Yanxi," he said and held my arms, he seemed like he didn't have any energy.

A second after that, he loosen his grip and fainted. I widened my eyes and instantly held him to prevent him from falling, "KARRY!!"

I carried him to the sofa and rested him there. I took a blanket that has never been used before and covered him with that. He was freezing. Then I took a small towel and washed it with warm water.

I wiped his cold wet hands with the towel and sighed, "What happened to you?"

"Long story," he replied and that shocked me. I wasn't expecting an answer from him, I thought he fainted.

"Why didn't you bring an umbrella?" I asked as I put the towel on his forehead.

He sighed, "My parents had a fight, so I went out of my house, not bringing anything. On my way here, the rain suddenly poured. I tried to find a shelter, but there's none."

"How long have you been in the rain?" I asked again.

"Around 10 minutes," he replied. "It's difficult for me to walk because I felt so dizzy."

"You might have a fever tomorrow," I said as I took the towel away and stood up.

I was about to go when he held my wrist, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to get some clothes for you to change," I said.

"Fine, be quick," he said and I nodded.

I then went upstairs to Qilin's room, tiptoeing so I wouldn't wake him up. I took one of his clothes and pants, then closed the door gently before running back down.

"Here, use this," I handed him the clothes.

He stared at me for a while but he didn't take it, "I don't have energy to change."

"But you have to change now, or your fever is going to get worse," I frowned.

"Then you help me," he simply said, which made me widened my eyes. I smacked his arm and he groaned in pain.

"Change. Now."

He hesitantly took the clothes away from my hand and dragged his feet to the bathroom. After a while, he came back and I realized his face became more pale. He laid down on the sofa before looking at me, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

"You look so pale, Karry. You're like a dead body moving around. Even your hands are as cold as ice," I said when I touched his hands. I covered his hands with the warm towel again.

I looked at him and he already fell asleep. He must be so tired. I decided not to go upstairs and to look after him, as a friend.
