Hey guys!

So this won't be a long post, obviously because it's for one song not a whole album. This is my review of Flowerss by HalfNoise.

So off the bat, I actually like the music in verses, it's this kind of 60s psychedelic rock music, a lot like The Jimi Hendrix Experience. That's one of my favorite bands of all time, so I enjoyed the homage to that kind of music. It was a welcomed throwback.

What drove me nuts was the music in the chorus, because I swear to god I've heard that melody somewhere. I kept listening to it and it just felt so familiar, but I can't quite place it. I could be crazy, it could be totally unique, but while I listened it sounded familiar to me.

My main problem with the song is the lyrics...because to me they don't make much sense....or have much to do with flowers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he needed to write a song about a literal garden, but the word "flowers" is only mentioned once. I think the song probably should've been called "Why Does It Matter?", because that seems to be the question asked in the song, asking a person why they care, as opposed to really having anything to do with flowers.

In general, the lyrics are fine, they're not terrible but they're not great. Very minimalist lyrics, but that really is Zac's aesthetic right now. I wanna break them down, talk about my favorite lyrics and my least favorite.

Flowerss:

Always in the shower

Where everything matters up here

I don't know why

I'm looking out the window today

Why does it matter?

Why does it matter to you?

Why does it matter?

Why does it matter to you?

Always and forever

I'll hold your flowers for you

Don't go inside

Or lose your mind

Why does it matter?

Why does it matter to you?

Why does it matter?

Why does it matter to you?

Woo!

La la la la la la

I know it's hard sometimes

I know it's hard sometimes

I know it's hard sometimes

Does it matter to you?

Does it matter to you?

My favorite lines from the song are:

"I don't know why I'm looking out the window today"

"Don't go inside or lose your mind"

I get the most honest genuine vibe from these two lines, I didn't like how repetive the song kind of became but these lines stood out for me. My interpretation of the song is its confronting someone who's hurt you, and I think these lines really convey that message.

My least favorite line:

"Always in the shower where everything matters up here"

This line just makes no sense to me, and in my personal opinion doesn't really go with the song. It doesn't really convey a message, and it's not very good as a hook.

Overall the song is fine, I give it a 7 out of 10, musically it's okay and lyrically it's kind of lackluster, so for me this song is just slightly above average.
