I'm Officially Over The 80s

And it's only fucking May.

This is in the Paramore book because it applies to Paramore and I'm gonna use them as an example.

I get it, you guys were born in 2005 and you apparently only use google to look for antique Polaroid cameras on eBay, but PLEASE do some musical research!

I've fucking had it with this 80s comeback bullshit, and it would be one thing if it was a couple of artists but it's becoming a fucking trend now. I'm fucking sick of it! I don't want to hear what you can do with the 80s, I want to hear what you can create for the future of music! You know what bands in the 80s did? They didn't try to re-create the fucking 70s! They created their own unique sound and contributed to the future of music. Artists need to be doing that! Innovating! Creating! Not ripping off!

For example, you are all, and a lot of people are, very impressed with Paramore

"They made a happy song, but with like sad lyrics it feeds my soul afahjsjjdjkj!!!!!"

They ripped off the 80s for their sound, and they ripped off one of the biggest 80s bands for that lyrical/musical juxtaposition!

Tears For Fears are one of my all time favorite bands, and were pioneers in the 80s. I guarentee you've all heard Mad World, but probably the slower version covered by Gary Jules. TFF became known for their poppy approach to music, that was filled with depressing and dark lyrics, a juxtaposition people hadn't heard or seen before.

Mad World (1983) Lyrics:

All around me are familiar faces

Worn out places

Worn out faces

Bright and early for their daily races

Going nowhere

Going nowhere

And their tears are filling up their glasses

No expression

No expression

Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow

No tomorrow

No tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny

I find it kind of sad

The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you

'Cause I find it hard to take

When people run in circles it's a very very

Mad world

Mad world

Mad world

Mad world

And TFF didn't do it once, it was a recurring theme of their career.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World (1985):

Welcome to your life

There's no turning back

Even while we sleep

We will find you

Acting on your best behaviour

Turn your back on mother nature

Everybody wants to rule the world

It's my own design

It's my own remorse

Help me to decide

Help me make the most

Of freedom and of pleasure

Nothing ever lasts forever

Everybody wants to rule the world

I love Paramore, but you don't know how much it pisses me off that they're getting praised for something they not only didn't pioneer, but that was already done by a different group of the same genre they're trying to emulate.

If it wasn't becoming such a damn trend I'd love this 80s comeback, but EVERYONE IS DOING IT! And they're getting way too much credit for it too.
