Chapter 16

*****Two months later*****

You were trying to calm yourself down as you prepared your deck with the cards you were going to use for the Constellation Cup. You hoped that your deck would be able to live up to it's name. You had a feeling that you would see Mai again along with other duellists that had entered these kinds of duelling tournaments before. You were breathing in and out, attempting to calm your already anxious body. You also hadn't seen any of your other friends since the forest incident. You were hoping that you'd run into them sometime within the tournament duels.

You had your duel disk on your arm and stood in the middle of Domino City Plaza as you saw other duellists gathering within the square itself. You saw a helicopter flying in the sky, as a coffee-coloured boy held a megaphone and announced, "Okay, you low-life duellists, I'm only going to say this once so listen carefully. This duelling tournament will be divided into three divisions: the first division is the Lightning division, the second one is the Thunder division and the final one is the Constellation division. If you want to win this tournament, you have to defeat the duellists in the Lightning and Thunder divisions in order to reach the Constellation division. If you manage to beat the low-lives from those two divisions, then you'll face yours truly for the chance to win the Constellation Cup. Now I announce this tournament, officially started!" I'm guessing that was Seto Kaiba. He's probably going to be tough to face later on. Right now, I should focus on who I'm going to face for my first match duel in the Lightning division. This is going to be tough but I know that it will be rewarding in the end.

You watched as you saw the pairings for the Lightning division. You saw Mai's picture along with Joey's and Yugi's. You saw that Yugi and Mai were in the Thunder division while Joey was in the Lightning division like you. You let out a temporary sigh of relief. You saw the matches and you felt yourself panicking.

You mutter, "Well, it could be worse. Actually, I take that back. This has turned for the worse." You whisper, "Please be a quick match, I don't want this to last too long." You watch as Joey looked confident as he faced Rex Raptor for his first match.

***Later on***

"Yeah! Told you that I'd beat your dinos, Rex!" That was Joey's remark when he beat Rex Raptor, who was glaring at the blond as he gloated about his win. Joey saw you standing and called out, "Hey Y/N! Did you watch me whoop Dino Boy's butt?" You shake your head, "Joey, quit gloating will you? There are still a lot of us that still have to duel. Anyway, congratulations." You heard an announcement, "Y/N L/N and Weevil Underwood please report to the duelling area for your duel." You said, "That's my cue, see you later." Joey remarks as you leave, "I hope she has some tricks up her sleeve for that creep."

You saw a short turquoise-haired boy wearing glasses and had a look of confidence on your face. You assumed that was Weevil Underwood. Don't panic, just breathe. You can do this, just don't let this weirdo get to you. He began to laugh, "My bugs are going to squish your monsters to a pulp!" Yeah, officially creeped by this weirdo. God, he's weirder than uncle when he goes on about his Toon monsters. "Duellists, get ready and begin!" You both said, "Let's duel!" Weevil spoke with a sense of certainty, "I'm starting first! I summon Hercules Beetle in attack mode, next I'm equipping it with Armor with Laser Cannon! It's ATK increases by 700 points!" Great! Not only does he have a strong monster out on his first turn, his bug is starting to creep me out even more! He concluded, "I end my turn with one card face down on the field." You breathed out, "Alright, it's my turn. First I summon Sun Crystal Sorceress in attack mode, next with her special ability, I can summon another Spellcaster to the field. I choose to summon Sun Crystal Witch in attack mode! Now I'm going to use Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your face down card!" The face down card on Weevil's side of the field was destroyed. You continue, "I place two cards face down and end my turn." He laughs, "Poor little Y/N is going to get defeated so easily! My bugs are going to sting you until you have no skin left to sting!" God he's so annoying! You shake your head at Weevil's remark. He makes so many bug puns and they aren't even funny. Weevil continued by saying, "I summon the mighty Insect Knight in attack mode, now Insect Knight destroy that witch!" Sun Crystal Witch was destroyed, making your LP go down to 3300. He adds, "Now Hercules Beetle will attack next!" Time to activate this trap! You remark, "Sorry, Weevil! That's not happening because I activate a trap! Negate attack will not only stop your attack but it will also keep my sorceress safe." He said, "Well you got lucky this time! Come my next turn, you'll be in for a surprise!" I don't want to know or find out. I have to turn this around! You drew your card and thought, "This will work perfectly." You said, "I summon Sun Crystal Wyvern in defense mode, next I'm going to sacrifice my sorceress and the dragon I just summoned! Now I'm going activate a spell called Call of the Crystal Dragon! You see if I have no monsters on the field, I can summon a dragon-type monster from my hand or from my graveyard. From my hand I summon, Sun Crystal Archfiend Dragon!" Weevil stutters, "N-No it can't be!! T-That dragon is huge!" You remark, "Now Archfiend, destroy Hercules Beetle with Solar Flare!" Weevil's LP decreases to 3300. You then add, "I activate the equip spell One-Shot Wand and I'm equipping it to Sun Crystal Sorceress! She gains 800 points when she has this sceptre in her possession! Now Sun Crystal Sorceress, attack Insect Knight with Shining Dragon Blast!" Weevil's LP drops to 2900. You concluded, "I end my turn with a card face down." Weevil began to laugh, "Is that the best you can do? I've seen better duelling than that." He is going to get it next turn! No one calls my duelling bad! He continued, "I activate Monster Reborn so I can bring back Insect Knight! Now I'm going to tribute the monster I just brought back in order to summon, the Insect Queen! She gains 200 points for every insect I have on the field. So her ATK increases to 2400, so now my mighty queen, attack her directly!" This is going to hurt. Your LP drops to 900 as you feel yourself stagger slightly. Weevil said, "You're lucky because I'm ending my turn now." Alright, it's go time! You said, "I activate Dragon Nails and I'm going to equip it to my dragon! So my dragon's ATK goes up by 600 points!" Archfiend Dragon's ATK goes up to 3500, making Weevil become startled. You said, "Now I'm going to end this duel! Archfiend Dragon, attack his Insect Queen Now Sun Crystal Sorceress, end this duel!" Weevil's LP automatically drops to zero, which meant that you had won your first duel against Weevil Underwood. You heard the referee announce, "The winner of this match is Y/N L/N!" Thank god.
