Chapter 3

Demons manifest themselves in people in different ways. For instance, out of nowhere, somebody can become very angry for no reason. That's not just an emotion. That's a demon.

You bolted awake, sweating from the nightmare you just had. You whisper, "What was that thing?" You saw what time it was and saw the door squeak open. You expect to see your uncle but see another man instead. "Miss Y/N, I see that you're awake. I'll tell Mr. Pegasus right away." You ask, "How is he?" He answers, "He's fine, Miss Y/N. Are you worried about him?" You quickly say, "I-I just wanted to check on him, that's all. It's nothing really." He then spoke once more, "Mr. Pegasus has been more worried about you, Miss." You said, "I'll um....come down soon." He nods, "Very well, Miss Y/N." That felt awkward. You shake your head and go downstairs.

You walk through the halls, still amazed at the fact that you were the niece of someone so well known. You see your uncle reading a book, not noticing your presence until you pulled out a chair. He was silent, going back to his book after glancing at your expression. You knew that he wouldn't speak, so you began to speak yourself, "I was scared. I just....I thought something bad had happened to you, uncle. I know you're scared of that thing from yesterday but I just...I have to know if you're okay or not. Please." You just heard silence, confirming that the conversation was over.

You were back in your room, getting ready for school, your uncle on your mind. You sigh with sadness as you saw the happy photo of your parents from two years ago. "Y/N?" You see your uncle peek inside as you put down the photo frame gently. Your uncle comes over and hugs your body with gentleness. He gives you a small smile, "Thank you for worrying about me, my dear but I'm just fine." He ruffles your hair and adds, "Now move along! I can't have you late for school." You were practically pushed out of your bedroom.

You heard several comments as you closed the car door. "Is she rich or something?" "Who is she?" I knew that Croquet dropping me off was a bad idea! Now everyone thinks I'm some rich snob or something! You were suddenly pushed to the ground, back hitting a stone wall. You felt your body being kicked by someone, hearing them say, "What's wrong, newbie? Scared of me already?" You heard two other voices, "Hey dude! If you want to mess with her, you'll have to get through us first! Yeah, what he said!" You open your eyes to see Joey and Tristan giving you a concerned look. Tristan asks, "You okay? You took a hard hit there." You reply, "I'm fine, really." Joey remarks, "No you aren't Y/N! You have cuts all over your hands." You hear another voice, this one was concerned, "What happened?" You saw Tèa, who was being told of what had just happened a mere moment ago. Tèa helps you up and says, "I'll help you walk, it looks like you're struggling right now." You stayed silent as  Tèa helped you walk into the nurse's office.

You only had a sprained ankle, much to your relief, your small injuries covered with bandages. You felt scared, your mind frozen along with your body as it just stayed there, unmoving. "Y/N?" You reply, "Sorry. I just spaced out. I'm fine, really. It's just that thing from yesterday creeped me out." Tèa nods, "I don't know what that thing was but it made my skin crawl." Yugi said, "You look really worried about something. You don't have to tell us if you don't want to." Before you could say anything, you see everyone with a shocked look on their faces. Yugi asks, "What's Pegasus doing here?" The teacher was as equally shocked before he asks, "May I help you?" Pegasus replies, "Is Y/N L/N here?" The teacher turns to you, "Miss L/N, someone would like to see you at the moment." You go outside and ask, "What's wrong?" Your uncle held your bag in front of you and said, "You are very forgetful, my dear. You left without your things this morning." He added, "That thing we saw yesterday, I sense an evil presence coming our way." He then said, "Anyway, I'll let you get back to your class." You nod, not wanting to respond.
