Sweet Sacrifice, Evanescence

You were terrified of the being in front of you, his menacing eyes spelling out how he felt about the human world. Joey however, stood fearlessly in front of the figure and said, "Hey freak! I'm not afraid of you!" Joey lacks some major common sense sometimes. The being spoke darkly, "You are the only two humans here, I assume. Perfect! Now I can take your souls and use them for our plan!" Joey replied, "We ain't goin' nowhere!" The being answers, "Really now? What would you say if I took away the people you care for?" You said to Joey, "Don't respond. He only wants you to fall for his tricks." Joey nods and stays silent. The fiend then gave up, "You aren't worth my time, humans." It disappears, making you slightly puzzled at what had just happened. Joey asks, "What was that thing?" You shrug, "I'm just as confused as you."

Joey stares at a photo on your desk and asks, "Are those two people in that photo your parents, Y/N?" You glance at it before answering, "Yes, those are my parents. They're always fighting and somehow, I get dragged into their fallouts." You add, "They weren't always like that though. Before any of this happened, we were a normal family that is, until something bad had occurred."

***Flashback***

You and your parents were just having a normal day today. Your father had just come back from work along with your mother. You thought that something was wrong, judging from the expressions on their faces.

"What is wrong with you?!? Gambling shouldn't be your first priority!! You have a daughter to look after!" Those were the words your mother yelled towards your father. Your father remarks, "It's only one day! Besides, Y/N is old enough to take care of herself." Your mother shakes her head, "Don't you see? She needs a father figure in her life! One that will stay forever!" Your father had a gambling problem and both of your parents were arguing over nothing.

One particular day, your father had gotten himself in a really bad situation. You ran to where he was, you were shocked at the sight. "Dad! Are you okay?!? Please say something, Dad." One of the thugs was holding your father captive in a cell, as you watched helplessly. You said, "How dare you hurt my dad like that!" The first one laughs, "What's a little girl like you going to do? Ask us to play with your dollies?"

*****Several minutes later*****

You had challenged them to a duel and it was down to your final turn. Please! Let me draw something that will get us out of this mess! You drew your card and sigh in relief. You only had 50 life points while the first thug still had about 1000. You said, "This is for my dad and everyone you hurt!" The thug said, "Bring it on, little girl!" You reply, "I summon Sun Crystal Archfiend Dragon and it's going to end this duel! Attack with Solar Flare!"

After the duel was over, you ran over to your father and shook him. "Dad?" You heard a small groan and said, "Thank goodness!"

*****flashback over*****

You finish telling Joey the story and his eyes enlarge. You added, "After that day, he had to stay in the hospital for about a month before the doctors gave him the okay to be discharged and go home." Joey asks, "What about your mom? What did she do when she heard about your dad being put in the hospital?" You answer, "She became scared but that's when she realized he only gambled to help our financial difficulties. My mom is the stubborn yet optimistic type, once she makes up her mind, there's no way to persuade her out of it."
