Running headlong down the outer corridors, the distance was not that far, but her steps were heavy which only made the distance seem that much farther.  But the moment their chamber came into view, she did not stop to wander why the doors were wide open, the hearth lit and the candles flickering in the soft breeze that entered ahead of her mad rush to get to him.

Coming to a standstill, she looked at the man who was standing at the open window seemingly lost to his thoughts as he took in the night sky beyond.  But turning slowly, Mo Yuans soft tender eyes gazed back at her with what seemed to her, a look which unveiled for the very first time, thousands and thousands of years of love for her that he had held close.

In his eyes she saw it all.  The bare and naked truth of the man who had certainly endured it all and for her alone.  The tears built up behind the ones that escaped her lashes until the flood gave way.  Into his arms she flew, where they immediately lowered to clasp her tightly against him.

With just the flick of a finger, the doors slammed closed and a privacy barrier was raised.  But he didn't move an inch.  Instead he held her as she wept for her stupid youthful naivety.  Her arrogant selfishness and her foolish pride.  But most of all, she cried for him.

How many times had she put him through the pain of her own misunderstandings, lack of good judgement and even his right to explain himself.  Always she rushed ahead with her own strong beliefs while completely ignoring that he too was just as entitled to his.

This man.  The mightiest War God of the entire world, who demanded respect and reverence everywhere he went, was just that.  A man.  One whose heart knew pain, sorrow and fear, but always he kept them close so she would never have to feel his sadness that her righteous indignation always turned to whenever she felt aggrieved regardless of whether she was right or not.

It was the final harsh lesson she had to face and she could do nothing but cry at her own weaknesses regardless of how wonderful and important the rest of the world saw her.  She cared nothing for it, and nor should he.

"I owe you so much." she whispered, unable to look at him.

Mo Yuan said nothing to her as she struggled to find the words she wanted to say to him. Instead he held her to him as he waited for what he hoped was the reason why he had her read his scrolls.

Taking a deep ragged breath, she slowly pulled back slightly to look at him.  The tears were still flowing, and her voice a mere whisper when she spoke, but the soft tender eyes remained steady as she summarised the scrolls.

"Lanhua said that everything that happened from the moment your parents were created, was predestined. Their struggles, your birth, your rise to one of the most revered High Gods, to our meeting.   But fate doesn't create this kind of heart." she said as her hand pressed lightly against his chest.

"Qian Qian....." he said before her hand raised to cover his mouth.

"Mo Yuan.  This heart is why I am here in your arms right now.  Not because of fate, or Lanhua and his people, but the sacred beauty that dwells in here." she whispered reverently as her hand lowered once again to press against his chest.

For the longest moment she didn't say anymore.  Having had no time to arrange her thoughts, her mind scrambled to gather them together before the moment was lost.  But Mo Yuan could see she needed to speak, so he said nothing as he held onto her waiting.

"One of the greatest illusions that I have lived by for far too long, is that I thought I knew all there was to know about the heart of this man.  But in reality, all I ever achieved was safety which merely hid every burden you have ever carried on my behalf." she whispered tearfully at his chest, before stilling his attempt to interrupt her by pressing her hand harder against him.
