With the longest walk of his life ahead of him Mo Yuan allowed himself to fully celebrate. Now that he had her in his clutches and with nothing standing in the way of completing what had begun over 50 thousand years ago, he let loose along with his Disciples who threw all manner of jokes and lively songs at him.
Though, out of respect for the elders and The Empress, the songs were kept clean for their benefit and with the fireworks and crackers blazing along with the sounds of the band adding to the racket, the bridal march had even Di Jun laughing along with Lord Pua.
Inside the Palanquin, Bai Qian giggled uncontrollably, though more because she knew her Disciple brothers were holding back for the elders benefit, and knowing Zi Lan so well, she knew he would be bursting to let loose on the bridal chamber.
From inside the palanquin, the sounds carried through to her quite clearly, she knew many of the songs being sung, so happily sang along, though like Mo Yuan she had not been blessed with a good singing voice either, but that did not stop either of them having fun and enjoying the merriment.
But the moment the elders began to sing, the tears began to flow. It was a very old song, one that she might have heard only a handful of times over her long life, and like Mo Yuan the emotion of it got to both of them.
There's a valley in the Eastern Ranges
Where the lilies spread their wings
And when the sunlight hits each tip
They say an angel singsHave you heard her song of late?
Her words they fall like rain
To touch the heart of every man
For what the day may bringAnd as the sun kissed lily spreads
Its snow white petals to the breeze
Her song of love and laughter
Is thrown out with ease.If you're lucky you may catch a spark
To carry on your way
But of course you did, didn't you?
It's why we're here today. Can you hear the angel singing
Where the lilies spread their wings?
The spark she threw upon the wind
Is what this day did bringSo hold her song to you close
And never let it go
For eternally her words will hold
Your love forever grow.Trembling slightly, Mo Yuans emotions began to rise. The song was so old, even he couldn't remember who had written it, and like Bai Qian, he had heard it only a few times over his long life, but hearing the elders sing was more emotional for him than the actual song. There was something in the way an elder sings, it makes one feel very small and childlike and though he didn't feel like a child, for a brief moment, he did feel small.
But soon the singing changed as the band picked up the pace of the rhythm. And before they all knew it, the half way mark had been reached. They could see the low Mountain Range that split the Demon Lands from Kunlun Mountain in the distance, but the closer they got, Mo Yuans eyes began to tear. Completely surrounding one side of the Mountain, Honghui had raised wedding banners and because they were facing Kunlun, they were meant for him and Bai Qian.
Honghui had declined his invitation which Mo Yuan was not unhappy about, but that the man had at least made an effort to bring joy to their wedding day, his heart lurched outwards towards his brother regardless of the uneasy feelings they had for each other.
But no sooner had the turned the corner in the path, then they were met by a large group of people who had spread themselves out to block the way.
The entire group of approximately fifty people, were all dressed in royal blue with gold trim, but not recognizing the colours, they slowed down the pace as the music and singing died away. That was until they drew closer and the energy he remembered began to filter through.
