Smiling down at her, Honghui kissed her lips softly before rising off her. Allowing her all the time she needed to catch her breath and perhaps rest a little, he slowly donned a robe as his eyes continued to rake her body. "You truly are very beautiful." he said with a tilt of his head and a small smile before picking up a little silver bell and calling for a maid.
Looking back at him, Bai Qian suddenly felt a cold chill in the air. The love making had been very beautiful, but she had immediately felt a change in him the moment her rose off her and knowing it wasn't her imagination, she pulled the blanket up over herself but kept her eyes on him the entire time. She could not quite pinpoint it, but something in his tone was different. Or was it his eyes? she thought to herself as a maid suddenly appeared with her head down.
Not even bothering to look at the girl, he ordered tea and a bath for Bai Qian as well as a change of clothing, before returning to her side with the same grin and the same look in his eyes.
"I don't need a bath or a change of clothing Honghui, I am not staying the night." she said softly while keeping her eyes fully on his face. Even his demeanor had changed slightly, there was something too casual about the way he was sitting and looking at her and she did not like it. It made her very uncomfortable and uneasy. They had just made love, shared pleasure with each other, yet his whole disposition was just too normal as if it had meant nothing.
"Oh, well that works out well. I do need to rest. The Medicine King did give me strict instructions not to overdo it, and I'm afraid you have worn me out." he said chuckling before tapping her nose with a finger. Then moving out of her way so she could rise and dress herself, she tried to comprehend the sudden change.
He had not even bothered asking why she wasn't staying and that immediately rang alarm bells. But waiting until she had dressed herself she looked back at him.
Having moved from the bed, he was by that stage casually reading what looked to be a play. Gaping at him, he must have felt her eyes on him, because he looked up briefly before returning to his play with just a casual glance her way. Now she knew for certain that something was wrong.
"Honghui." she called to him from the center of the room.
Glancing up from the play he eyed her questioningly, a look that just seemed so out of place considering what they had just done only minutes before.
"Is something wrong?" she asked, moving closer to him.
Placing the scroll down onto the table as the maid entered, he waited until she had left before offering her a seat beside him. Then pouring two cups of tea, he handed her one.
"Come now Bai Qian, surely you didn't see too much into it did you?" he asked smiling softly at her.
Dumbfounded and gawking back at him as if he had just slapped her face, she could feel the tears welling in her eyes as he casually took her hand.
"What do you mean?" she asked, her voice breaking as she looked up into his now cold hard eyes.
"Forty Thousand years I tried to win you and I finally won. Though I must say, you were definitely my most challenging claim yet. I have never lost a woman in my life, yet you gave me one hell of chase. The things I had to do to win you." he said suddenly laughing and confusing her even more.
"Win me?" she asked stunned.
Shaking his head at her with a look one would give a child who was not understanding a simple explanation, he fully and completely broke her heart. Zhe Yan and Mo Yuan, Cheng Yu too had warned her to stay away from him, they had all tried to describe the kind of man that he was, more so Zhe Yan. Even her father had tried to steer her away from him, and what he had to say next was the reason why he was considered so dangerous to all women.
