Kunlun Mountain Part 4 - The Return

Chapter 9 - A Waking Dragon

It was the sound of heavy running feet on the sold wood floors that woke him at Dawn.  But the sudden explosion of his door being thrown wide, without even a knock or call before entering, had Zhe Yan sitting up and his legs being thrown over the side before they could take two steps into his chamber.

"What is it?" he snapped as Die Feng and Chang Shan entered as if the whole Mountain was under siege.

"Its Shifu!" Die Feng gasped out at him, while Chang Shan stood beside him grasping his knees to catch his breath.  But the moment he saw the tears on both faces, he was up and running with them back to Mo Yuans chamber.

The dawn sky had yet to reach that side of the Mountain, so it was still dim when he entered, however, seeing as the curtains had already been drawn it only took a wave of his hand to light every candle in the room to fully brighten the chamber.  

The first thing to greet him was the shattered soul stone which still remained scattered on the floor beside the bed.  And as his eyes raised to the body still lying down where he had left him, a lump began to form at the back of his throat as the steady rise and fall of his chest came into view.

"Mo Yuan..." he whispered as he drew closer.  Not only was he breathing, but his face had lost the dark splotches of color his body had held for the entire time of his slumber and a rosy pink glow on his cheeks had taken its place.  

Even his fingertips had lost the bluish tinge which now also held a pink healthy color, but his eyes though closed looked to moving as one would in deep sleep.  

Ordering Die Feng to fetch Di Jun, he sat down beside him and quickly opened his magic.  It had been a long time since he had checked Mo Yuans soul, because it was just too risky, though each time he had, the dark patches had still been there slumbering along with him.

From what he could see, the dark patches were still there, but were for the moment lying idle not far from his core essence which was alarming because there was no barrier preventing them from entering.   Deciding to wait for Di Jun to arrive before he placed a barrier himself, knowing that to do so could harm his body as well as his soul, he instead removed his energy and tried to wake him instead.

"Mo Yuan, can you hear me.  Wake up." he said loud and clear, as Chang Shan hovered over his shoulder in tears,  His big fat tear drops were falling all over his gown which was distracting him, and knowing the boy was just as excited as he was, he ordered him to make tea.

"Please High God Zhe Yan, I want to be here when his eyes open." he cried tearfully while the sounds of the younger Disciples could be heard gathering outside the chamber.

"Fine, but send one of the others, I need a drink. " he said which instantly had Chang Shan moving towards Zhi Lan who was inching his way into the chamber.

"Zhi Lan, go make a fresh pot of tea, and bring it to High God Zhe Yan." he said softly which automatically had all of his juniors pushing forward.  

For Chang Shan himself to order any one of them to his kitchen to make anything suggested that what was happening to Shifu was so enormous, he had forgotten thousands of years of strict orders that none of them were to step one foot into his kitchen.  And that only had them all pushing past him to see for themselves, because if Shifu was waking, they too wanted to be there for it.

Sighing as he watched them kneel behind him. Zhe Yan conceded.  He couldn't stop them, he was their Shifu, and they had all waited alongside for that day, so continuing to call his name, they watched as his chest rose and fell with every breath just waiting silently for his eyes to open.

And it was while they were watching him, that Zhi Lan suddenly inched his way to the side of the bed to talk to Zhe Yan.   "High God Zhe Yan, why are Shifus feet so dirty?" he asked frowning towards Mo Yuans white socks that were changed daily.
