When you first arrive at Camp Half-Blood, you hope to be able to follow in your brother Percy's footsteps. You know he's a hero and a big deal around here, and you want to be able to do something like that.

However, despite all your excitement about starting at Camp Half-Blood, you begin to get frustrated. Everyone is nice to you, and you do make a few friends. The problem is that everyone seems to only see you as Percy's sister, and you feel that your own talents and personality aren't recognized enough.

Despite that, though, there is one person who seems to see more in you: Annabeth Chase, one of Percy's closest friends. She spends time with you and spends time trying to get to know the real you, like she really wants to know who Y/N Jackson really is. That excites you and makes you happy, and you like her all the more because of it.

Soon enough, you begin falling for Annabeth. She's quickly become one of your favorite people, and there's no way of curing the feelings you have for her.

You want to tell her how you feel, but you have two fears. The first one is the simple fear that she doesn't like you that way, not what you feel when you look at her. To be rejected like that is probably your greatest fear when it comes to Annabeth.

And then there's the second fear: your brother Percy. There's clearly something going on between him and Annabeth, though you don't think they're actually dating. You don't know how Percy would react to the news if you did start dating Annabeth, and you would honestly be afraid to tell him. And you don't think you could live with it if you found out that Percy and Annabeth actually are dating.

It seems you don't have to tell Percy anything about your feelings after all; somehow, he seems to know.

On a day you and Annbeth are hanging around chatting, as soon as she walks away, Percy walks over to you.

"What are you doing?" he asks.

"What do you mean?" you ask back.

"You know what I mean, Y/N. All this time you're spending hanging out with Annabeth. You think I don't know what you're thinking?"

You shrug. "How would you know what I'm thinking if I haven't told you?"

He sighs. "Because, I know you. Look, Annabeth and I have sort of a thing, okay?"

"So what? Just because you're dating her means I can't hang out with her?"

"You're not trying to just hang out with her! It's obvious you have a crush on her. Just...leave it alone, okay?"

As Percy walks away from you, you fight the urge to run after him and knock him to the ground. You don't want to start a fight in the middle of the campground and get both of you in trouble. The only thing you can think of to do is just walk away, which is probably the most mature thing to do.

Later that day, Annabeth comes to your cabin while you're sitting outside by yourself.

"You look glum," she remarks. "Something wrong?"

You shrug. "No. I just had a fight with Percy this morning. Sibling things, you know?"

She nods. "Yeah. Look, I know what you and Percy were fighting about this morning. You guys were kind of in the middle of the campground, so a bunch of people heard you. Let me finish," she says when you open your mouth to speak. "I'm not dating Percy. I don't think it'll work out with us."

 "Oh. But he said-"

"Yeah, I know. I told him earlier that it won't work. He'll get over it. Besides," She slips her hand into yours, "I've has someone else in mind."

"But...wouldn't it be a real slap to the face if you start dating his sister?" you ask.

"True, but we'll figure something out, right?" She kisses your cheek. "Come on. Let's go sit by ourselves at dinner. It'll almost be like we're on a real date."
