Kraven #1

 You toss the gun aside in anger. You knew from the beginning that training to be a Death Dealer was going to be difficult, but you were ready for it. You didn't expect it to be this difficult, though. You've been told you're doing all right so far, and it seems you are doing about the average. But you want to be better, just a little bit.

 "Is that frustration I sense? From you, I'm surprised."

 You turn towards the sound of the voice. "Oh. Hello, Kraven."

 He gives you a nod. "Y/N. Trouble with training, I see."

 You try to stand up straighter, and look a little more calm. "A bit of trouble, but I can't really complain. I'm being told I'm doing all right."

 "But you want to do better," he says, finishing your thought. "Maybe even be the best."

 You look away, suddenly feeling a little ashamed. "Well...yes. It probably sounds a bit silly, but it's sort of true."

 "On the contrary. Don't look like that, Y/N. There's wrong with wanting to be your best, or the best. I'm sure you're not the only one."

 You look up at him. "Have you?"

 "Not recently, mainly because I haven't had much reason to. But I did always have a lot of ambition, and the desire to be better than the rest. You're ambitious, and there's nothing wrong with that."

 "Well, that' good to know," you say.

 "Hmm." He nods again. "You know, if you really think you're having trouble, I could ask Selene to help you. She's one of our best and most reliable. You could learn from her."

 You nod, and say, "I'll think about it. Thank you, Kraven."

 "You're welcome. I must be going, but keep it up. You'll get better."

 You exhale deeply after he leaves the room. You can't believe he actually suggested you ask Selene for help. You haven't made it a secret that you're not fond of her, but maybe Kraven just hasn't noticed. You'll never understand his infatuation with her, and it annoys you that she constantly has his attention when she doesn't even like him.

 You decide you'll do perfectly fine on your own.
