A sequel to 'The Dance'

Sarah was weak, and couldn't run any further. She collapsed to the ground and closed her eyes, worn out from their flee from Count von Krolock's castle.
"Sarah, you are weak," Alfred said softly. "Let me hold you. Everything will be alright now. We're safe. I stay awake for you and to protect you from ghosts." He took her hands in his. "Our nightmare is over! The day isn't so far away anymore. Everything will be different now: nevermore locked in, nevermore alone."
"Going where I want to go!" Sarah said wistfully.
Alfred smiled. "Showing what I feel!"
"Having a bath everyday!"
"The cold and the fear will be over! Beyond the woods and the mountains, everything will be new. Outside is freedom, where the horizon begins, there's a land where every miracle is possible!"
Sarah jumped and threw her arms around Alfred.
"No walls can separate us now," he said, "And no border we can't overcome. Stay with me, because with you, I can go as far as the stars, see into the future! There isn't anything to separate us anymore, Sarah. We're free!"
Alfred looked into her eyes, and caught only a brief glimpse of fangs before she bit him. Alfred cried out in pain, but she didn't let go. Horrified, Alfred collapsed to the ground after she let go of him. He looked down at his finger, which now had blood on it.
"What is this?" he asked, looking down at it.
"Blood, darling," Sarah answered with a smile, her own face covered in it. "Go on. Lick it up."
He hesitantly licked his finger, and then said, "It's not bad."
Alfred laid down on the ground, and Sarah got down on her knees next to him to bite him again. When he rose up again, he was well on his way to becoming a vampire, and both of them really were leaving their old lives forever.
