Chapter 44; Phone & Visit

"Hey honey, welcome home," a man's voice said as I entered the house.

I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out.

"It's been so long. Your mom & I have to tell you something," he smiled widely. "Melissa! Our daughter is home!" he yelled before turning back to me and sending me another big smile.

Who does he think he is?

"Oh my baby, you're finally home!" my mother exclaimed and squeezed me into a tight hug.

"Alright, honey do you want to tell her or should I?" the man asked my mother, still having the biggest smile on his face. He pulled my mother close to him and wrapped his arms around her, making her blush.

What the hell is going on?

"I will. Mila honey, you're going to be a big sister!" my mother revealed, jumping up and down excitedly over the fact that she was pregnant.

"Honey? Say something."

"She's just speechless, Melissa. It's a lot to take in but you can see the happiness in her eyes," the nameless man said and kissed my mother's cheek, making her smile.

He definitely wasn't my real father. He couldn't be.

"Where is my real father," I said, saying something for the first time as I got...home?

My mother gasped and the man just coughed, awkwardly.

"Honey, we've talked about this. You'll never ever going to know who that man is but consider yourself lucky because the four of us can now be a happy family just like you've always wanted."

The man walked towards me and pulled me towards my mother before wrapping the both of us in a hug. "I'm your father now."

I awoke with a gasp. I quickly checked my surroundings and sighed in relief as I noticed that I was still at Kate's. I was in the fort to be exact.

I pulled my phone out from under the pillow and noticed that it was only four in the morning. Another weird 'father' dream for my collection, how great.

Since I couldn't sleep anymore I decided to crawl out of the fort and get myself something to drink, without waking Asher & Milo who were sleeping in the fort with me.

I filled myself a glass with orange juice and proceeded what the hell I had just dreamed. An idea popped in my head and I quickly went to get the keys from my house.

I also grabbed a key from the hanger which was for Kate's house so I could let myself in again without ringing the doorbell. Without putting on some shoes or anything I skipped out of the house and ran across the lawn to my own.

To my surprise I noticed the same unfamiliar car in the driveway from the day I got here. It obviously belonged to that man my mom was linked to and I was now trying to find out what he was on about.

I unlocked the front door as quietly as I could before getting in and checking downstairs but that guy was obviously sleeping in my mom's bed instead of on our couch.

I decided to check upstairs in case they were still awake which I doubted.

I opened my mom's bedroom door as quiet as possible and saw her cuddled up to the man I had seen her with in the kitchen, sucking each others faces off. Disgusting.

I saw his phone laying on the bedside table and before I thought about what I was doing I had picked it up. I pressed the home button and saw a picture of him & my mother, smiling widely for the camera, as his background.
