Chapter 18; Moana & The Rock

"C'mon Jamila! This is important!" Andre yelled from outside my room. I had finished school with Casey and today's subject was History which definitely wasn't my favorite.

I quickly changed out of my pyjamas and into casual blue jeans with a white, cropped shirt with a watermelon drawn on. It looked cute. I put my hair into a ponytail and quickly put on some mascara and a little eye shadow with glitter.

I unlocked my door and threw on a jeans jacket and some Adidas Superstar before kissing Lauren on the cheek and pushing Andre out of the door. "Have fun! Love you!" Lauren called and both Andre & I responded by saying, "We will! Love you, too."

We run to the car that was already waiting and got in. The car speed off and we almost made it to the meeting in time. Almost.

"Sorry we're late. It was my fault," I sheepishly smiled at the producers of the movie but they just smiled and told me that it was fine.

The meeting began with them telling me about the movie and showing me the characters on paper. After that we discussed the song and they played me the demo.

"So what do you say?" one of the producers asked me.

"I love it and I would feel honored to sing the song," I grinned happily. "You can start right away actually. The studio is a few floors up and I believe we have the voices of Moana & Maui in the house today and maybe a few others so you could meet them, as well."

Andre agreed with that and called Mark to let him know.

They were really spontaneous and really wanting to do this fast. Normally, there would be a meeting to discuss and then a few days or even weeks later the production would start but apparently they didn't want to wait.

I followed a few people to the Studios and already heard two people singing. I knew one of the voices somehow so I got kinda nervous knowing that maybe some actor/actress was here that I knew.

As they lead me into one of Studios I saw a girl, looking around my age, singing an unknown song. She looked just like this one character called Moana.

They stopped and she smiled widely as she saw me. "Hey! I'm Auli'i. I heard you would be singing one of the songs. I didn't know it was today," she told me and I returned the bright smile.

"I'm Jamila and yea I just had a meeting with the producers. It's really nice to meet you."

"I'm a big fan," she blurted out, making me laugh. "Thank you."

She went back to singing and they lead me to another studio where I gasped as I saw who was in there. Dwayne Johnson. The Rock.

"Jamila Carver! Is that you?" he laughed as he approached me. "Sure am, Dwayne," I said like I'd known him for years. We both laughed and he hugged me saying, "don't tell anyone but I'm a huge fan."

"Don't worry it'll be our secret," I assured him, making him chuckle. He surely does have some muscles. "I wanna hear you sing," I gestured to the mic in the recording studio. "Alright, you'll be blown away."

He walked in and the producer at the mixing desk told him what part. The music played and soon he was singing one of the songs for the movie. He was really good actually.

"So how did you like it?" he asked as he walked back to me. "Really good," I gave him a thumbs up and said good bye since I had to record a song as well. They handed me the lyrics and let me listen to the demo for a few times.

We only recorded Chorus 1 & 2 since they were the easiest to do and after that it was already early afternoon so I had to leave because yesterdays interviews were on for today. I said goodbye to Dwayne & Auli'i on my way out and it wasn't long until we were home.

Lauren had a day off and I decided to do the Interviews in the living room since Lauren wanted to listen in. After my fifth Interview we ate dinner before I was back to work and did the rest until the sun was setting.

I haven't heard from Harry today either so I decided to call him. After a few rings he actually picked up saying, "Hello?" Apparently, he didn't look at the caller ID.

"Yea, hello Harold," I said in a not so nice way.

"Miles. I'm really sorry that I didn't call or text you," he apologized. "uh huh. Why are you in England?" I asked right away, wanting to know why he suddenly disappeared.

"I just wanted to be home, meet with some friends and spend time with my family."

"And why didn't you tell me? I was worried and you were my only getaway when Lauren & Andre want to spend time together on their own," I told him, making him chuckle. I didn't make a joke, did I?

"Yea, sorry. It was a last minute decision also I just dropped my debut single which is exciting," he informed me. I really wanted to be happy for him right now but not even this he could tell me. I don't know why but I felt a little betrayed. I know I shouldn't be but we had plans and he was one of my only friends here.

"Good luck with that. Good bye Harry."

He wanted to say something but I had already hang up on him. Old friends of mine used to be like him. Always, keeping secrets and giving me the feeling that they didn't care about me. I was sensitive so I may or may not overreact sometimes but they knew 99% of the time how I feel about this and so did Harry so I didn't understand it, at all.

Learning since an early age to push the feelings aside I did just that and had a great evening with Lauren & Andre aka Landre.

"DREW!" I yelled as I saw Andrew from the Chainsmokers in the hallway of the studio. "Mila!" he came over and pulled me into a hug. The last week Drew, Alex, a few other writers & I spend time together, finishing up our song.

"Where's Alex?" I asked right away. "In the Studio, I just wanted to grab a drink," Drew answered as he put a dollar in the vending machine. I nodded and already walked towards the studio. One of my drivers had picked me up at home and brought me here alone since Andre didn't really had to be here and no one else from my management in that matter.

I entered the studio and spotted Alex along with the crew. I greeted everyone and sat on the couch next to Alex & Drew as we listened to the instrumental version and discussed little details before we decided that Drew would sing first.

He recorded the first verse and I was blown away. This is definitely a song I would listen to and I think it'll be huge.

At around 2pm we decided to go out for lunch after spending the last five hours in the studio. We got into a car and the driver brought us to a mall about fifteen minutes away from the studio just because Alex wanted to eat in this Pizza place that apparently made the best pizza here.

I love pizza and I hadn't had pizza for over a week so I was up for it.

I pulled my hood up as we got out of the car and Drew & I followed Alex who got really excited for whatever reason. At our first meeting I was skeptical if I was the right person for the song since I've never had any experience in that matter but they believed in me and thought I was mature enough.

No one recognized us yet which was a good thing because we had a strict time limit before we had to be back in the studio. We hoped to finish the song tomorrow but if that won't be the case then we had to reschedule which would be hard considering that I was going on tour really soon, so I've heard, and Alex & Drew had also tour coming up in just a few days.

However, I was confident that we will get this song done tomorrow.
