Looking back on it now, it probably wasn't the best idea. Then again, I never claimed to be smart. We're all young and stupid at some point, but I'll never get to grow out of that. I've chosen to do something unspeakable, and I'm sorry to those who cared enough to try and help me. All I did was drag you down with me and I'm so very sorry. I'm sorry how it ends this way, but I love you. You've gotta remember that.

Frank knew that morning when he woke up that something was off. He sipped his coffee as he stared across the yard, then up at the grey skies. He has no idea that less than a mile away, his best friend was about to make the final decision and mistake of her life.

You need to help my family move on, help them though the "tragedy" that this will become. Help my friends remember all the good times we had, but help them realise how wrong I was for them, how bad I was for their reputation. I destroyed their lives from day one. I never meant to hurt anyone.

Frank tried desperately to ignore the odd feeling in his gut. He also failed to do so. He decided to get dressed and go for a walk. He passed the odd feeling off as another stomach issue as he got into the shower, running his hands through his hair. A sigh escaped his lips when he seen the first few raindrops against his window. They looked like teardrops from the sky.

The rain is the perfect coincidence. They'll pass the rippling off as raindrops instead of all of my thoughts, memories, mistakes, and so forth. I try not to let the raindrops from my eyes fall as I pull on my favourite grey jacket and pin the letter to the door. I stared at the shut door with the crisp white note on it, which soon began to get wet. The ink started to run a little, much like my makeup. I pulled the hood up and began walking.

Stepping out of the shower, Frank noted that it was a bit cold. He pulled on his jeans and his shirt, not caring that his hair was still wet. He found a black hoodie and pulled it on, grabbing his shoes next. He made sure to grab his older pair so he didn't ruin his new ones in the mess the outside world had become in the few minutes he'd been in the shower. Sighing, he pulled the hood over his head and stepped out into the rain.

There's the park I used to play in as a kid, I noted as I passed the place. What could it hurt to sit on the swing for a little bit? After all, the place is as barren and deserted as my mind. I sat on the swing and stared into space, thinking of when Isabelle and I would play here as kids. She used to be my best friend, but then she became popular and I became the weird kid. Our social circles tore us apart.

Frank still couldn't shake the weird feeling. In fact, it only grew the further he walked. He passed the old ice cream store where he and his parents used to go to whenever something good happened. The first time they went was when he got all a's on his report card and again when he met his first friend. His mind wandered to how she was doing. Maybe I'll stop by her place later, he thought.

After leaving the park, I went to the middle school, which was also deserted, as it's Saturday. I saw the tree where Andrea told me off and left me all alone again. I kept walking, ignoring the wave of emotions that stabbed at my heart. I guess it's true that true friends stab you in the front. The next stop was the local dollar store that I got my first job at. It was a pretty good job, but you know, I never did get treated right.

The town seemed deserted, or at least to Frank it did. Where is everyone? He thought maybe they'd all left without him. Maybe he should go ahead and go by his best friend's house. He figured he'd stop by and get her something– he knew she'd been struggling a lot lately. Maybe the grocery store a few blocks from her house would be a good place to go.
