~3 am~

Up next down hallways every four is not something that I expected. Honestly, I don't know what I expected. I just know that I expected a lot of crying and waking up at early hours. We just brought our daughter, Nikki home from the hospital today.

Just as I picked up the tiny human from her crib, I heard a faint thud and a muffled cry of "ow fuck." Well, Jared's up, I thought with a silent laugh. Sure enough, he showed up in the doorway.

I sat in one rocking chair and he sat in the other. "You know, I could've got her," he smiled sleepily and yawned. I shrugged, "It's fine, I've got this. Besides, I was already up." Jared rolled his eyes and said, "What do you want me to do? It's not fair for you to do all of the work while I just sit there."

I shrugged and finally said, "You can get her bottle ready I guess. Doesn't really matter." I could see his smile in the darkness, "You got it Ash." He wandered off down the hallway and ran into something else and whisper shouted, "Seriously?! Ow . . . "

I laughed quietly at the idiot who will wind up killing himself by running into a wall or something. I kept rocking the chair, slowly rocking myself to sleep while Nikki just stared sleepily at the wall.

My eyes snapped open when I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Hey," Jared said in a quiet, gentle voice. "It's ok, it's just me," he added, flashing his trademark smile. He squats and looks into my eyes, "Ashley, you're exhausted. I can take care of Nikki, but you need to take care of yourself, ok?"

I didn't want to tell him that the only reason I'm avoiding sleep is because I've been having severe nightmares

I didn't want to tell him that the only reason I'm avoiding sleep is because I've been having severe nightmares. So, with slight hesitation, I handed him our daughter and stood up to let him have the rocking chair.

"I'll see you when she falls asleep," he laughed a little and kissed my cheek before he sat down. I watched the two of them as he fed her before he murmured, "Go to bed, Ash, I'll be there in a minute." He looked at me in amusement and I smirked a little before I turned and went down the hall to our room.

I got situated under the covers and prayed that sleep wouldn't find me.

"Ashley! Ashley, wake up! Wake up!" Something was shaking the bed, or more specifically, my psycho husband was shaking my shoulder. "Jared? What the hell--" I stopped short when I seen his pale face and dim sunlight. "What is it?" I asked, adding, "Is it Nikki? She is ok, right?" Panic began to build up and he sighed before he fell into the pillows beside me. "You were screaming and thrashing around. That's the second time this week. What's going on, Ash?"

I sighed and turned to face him, "Nightmares. About things that's happened to me in the past, current fears, things that I never want to see happen. It's everything and nothing all at once and there's nothing I can do to fix it." He frowned before he pulled me into his arms and sighed. "I won't let anything happen to you or Nikki, I promise," he says.

He moves so that he can see my face. He smiles in a worried way, "Try to get some sleep. I'll be right here to keep all the bad things away." I smiled a little and nodded, slowly allowing the darkness to take over again.

This time, I was awake on my own terms. No nightmares, no screaming, no thrashing. Jared must've went to go get Nikki because he isn't next to me anymore. I looked over at the clock, which read 10:45 am, so I needed to get up anyway.

I pushed the covers away from me and sat up slowly. When I was sure I wasn't gonna fall over as soon as I got up, I stood up and went down the hall. I stopped at the nursery and found Jared and Nikki in the rocking chair.

I just stood in the doorway watching them with a tiny smile on my face. Finally, he glanced up and smiled when he seen me. "Well, look who's up. No nightmares?" He bit his lip and watched me carefully as I came in and squatted beside the chair. "No, actually. Thanks for helping me." He grinned, "That's what I'm here for, isn't it?"

I shrugged, "Yeah, I guess." He laughed and kissed the top of my head. "Well I'm glad I could help," he said and stood up, taking my hand. "Lets go be kids and watch cartoons downstairs," I said and he intertwined his fingers with mine. "Alright, lets go." And with that, we walked downstairs and spent most of the day watching Scooby Doo and Tom & Jerry (A.N. my two mains growing up lmao).

Ok so I figured I'd use a different band this time. Congrats! You got Jared Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars in this imagine. Also can we just appreciate this picture? (Below)
