"He is here again" your sister says teasingly.
Immediately you drop everything and rush over to the window. She was right. He was here again.
He impatiently waited for his pony to get him to your front door. If he had to he would have ran the whole way. If he was honest with himself he would find that he would go wherever if it meant being with you.
"Isn't this the third time this week that he has come to see you?" your sister asked.
You nodded. "Aye, this is the third time. Last time he said he would see me soon." You sighed dreamily. "I didn't dare to hope that he would visit us so soon again."
Your sister laughed. "It is not 'us' he is visiting, dear sister. He only comes here for you. And maybe for your apple pie."
Together you laughed. The sun was shining brightly today. Your prince was on his way to your front door. And all that was standing between you, him and a perfect day was a protective father.
The door to the kitchen opened with a small bang. "Lydia, how is the bread coming along?" your father asked. He spotted you standing at the windowsill. He walked over to peek over your shoulder. "Ah bloody daffodils, is he here again?"
He shook his head. "I don't know what you did to that poor boy but he is quite smitten with you." Your father walked over to the work bench to prepare some meat for a customer.
You huffed. "He is not a boy, father. Thorin Durin is a man... dwarf. Even for his young age he already acts so mature" your sister said before you could start. She winked at you from behind your father' back.
"I wonder what he wants today" your father said gruffly. He eyes the front door suspiciously.
"Maybe he wants to take her to town today? Last time he almost bought her the entire bookstore" your sister teased.
The front door was opened. And in walked Thorin Durin. He looked around eagerly, hoping that you were somewhere close, serving the tables. His eyes fell on you standing in the doorway to the kitchen.
It only took him a few large steps to end up standing very close to you. Your noses were almost touching. "My beloved" he whispered.
His hand moved up to stroke the hair out of your face but a single cough from your father stopped his action. To your dismay. "Prince Thorin, as always it is an honor to have you here in our little tavern" your sister said, bowing for the prince.
"An honor it has been three times this week already" your father grumbled from behind the counter.
Thorin bowed his head back in return. "As always, it is an honor to be in your company." His eyes sparkled when he looked at you. He looked at your father. "I was hoping I could take your daughter out for a walk this afternoon. If that is alright with you, of course."
Your father eyed him up and down. This was the standard routine. Next would be the question;
"What are your plans with her?"
Thorin smiled kindly. "I only mean to take her for a walk. To spend time together. I many tales to tell her."
Your father snorted. "Really? You have many tales to tell her since last you spoke? If my memory serves me right, then I clearly remember you being her two days ago. So much has happened since then, ay?"
