This drabble originates from my own imagination. I wrote this one with a website called 'Fighter's Block!' It is a fun website where you choose a character, a monster to battle and the amount of words you want to write.

Then you fight the monster by typing down words. It keeps me focused on the story I am writing. Maybe you'll enjoy it too! http://cerey.github.io/fighters-block/#

Dwalin wasn't sure what they were supposed to do here. All they were told by Gandalf was that they would stop by an 'old friend of his'. Whatever it meant, Dwalin didn't think it would mean anything good.

The wizard had proven quite a few times before that he couldn't be trusted when it came to things as explaining himself correctly. Or at all. It was something they would need to work on.

He would have a word about it with Thorin later. After they had glared at the elves.

"First that elf scum at Rivendell and now this" Thorin growled.

Dwalin hummed angrily to show his king he agreed.

They were both standing off to the side, leaning on their axes as the wizard conversed with yet another elf. It was unbelievable.

"What are you two doing?" a cheery voice came from just behind them.

The dwarves looked over their shoulders. You were standing behind them with a grin on your face.

"We are looking at the elf" Thorin explained as if you were a mere child.

"I can see that master dwarf. But the expression on your face suggests you are doing more than just looking at him." You tried to look around them. Over them was simpler. "He seems friendly to me."

Thorin and Dwalin huffed in unison. "That is what they want you to believe lass" Dwalin said, turning his attention back to the elf. "When you are in need of assistance, or if there is any danger at all, they are nowhere to be seen."

You concentrated on the tall figure talking to Gandalf. "Maybe you can have a conversation with him? Perhaps this one isn't that bad?"

A foul glare was send your way.

"Very well then" you said, shrugging, "then I will talk to him." But you didn't get very far. Two axes were blocking your way before you could even do as much as blink. You rolled your eyes. "Seriously? I don't think he will eat me or anything like that."

Dwalin eyed the elf up and down. "You don't know that lass."

"I think you are seeing things. Or better yet, you want to see things. Just because a royal elf clown once didn't save your people doesn't mean they are all bad." More glares were sent your way. This was getting kind of ridiculous. "Honestly, let me talk to him and we can leave here quicker than if you let him talk to him." You pointed at Gandalf.

Before making their decision, Thorin and Dwalin exchanged looks. To you it just looked like they were staring at each other but there was a mental conversation taking place.

"How do you think you can end this casual meeting earlier than intended?" Thorin asked curiously.

You shrugged. "It is rather easy if you know the right words." You were once again stopped by the two axes blocking your path. "The part where I end this unplanned meeting would go faster if you let me through" you said.

Thorin glared some more at you.

"Lass, we don't normally let woman fight our fights" Dwalin explained. "Why don't you tell us what we need to say to the tree-shagger?"

"Well, for one, you calling him a tree-shagger might not help in this situation. Gandalf will probably kill you or at least throw you off the nearest cliff."

"How would that not kill us?"

"Apparently you have thick skulls so you might survive the fall and the landing" you said, smiling sweetly at Thorin. "Besides, this needs a womans touch."

"A womans touch?"

You nodded. "If you let me handle this then we have left this place before you even know that you are walking out of here" you said confidently.

Thorin put his axe away. "Very well. Show us the magic of this 'womans touch'."

It took Dwalin a little longer to pull his axe out of your way, but he eventually followed Thorin' lead.

With a straight back you marched up to where Gandalf and the elf were talking. You cleared your throat.

"Ahh, (y/n)! Look Filnor, this is the girl I told you about. The only one with manners amongst this company." Someone cleared their throat in the background. "The girl and the hobbit, that is" Gandalf corrected himself.

You shook the elves' hand. "Yes, that is true. Hello and nice to meet you. Well, that was nice, see you another time! We've got to hurry. A big scary dragon is waiting for us, you know?" And with that you turned around and left.

Dwalin and Thorin didn't waste another minute and followed you closely behind. The rest of the dwarves picked up the hint and followed too.

"She was the one with manners you said?"

"She used to be, yes Filnor."
