Imagine from thereandbackagainimagines; Imagine losing your parents at a young age and, over time, refering to Thorin and Dwalin as your parents.
I am not sure whether the person whom requested this on the Tumblr page meant it as;
A. Dwalin and Thorin are together and you refer to them as your parents
B. Or Dwalin and Thorin are just the two that look after you the most so you refer to them as your parents.
I went with B for the people who don't like Thorin/Dwalin pairing :)

You walked down the street with a hood over your head. Enough to keep you dry yet let you see enough to not bump into anyone. It was crucial not to get noticed by anyone.
Then why did you wear an outfit that stood out? That is a question that you really shouldn't be asking.
It was your job to look ahead and see if the coast was clear. The rest of the company was waiting for your signal just outside of town. None of them would enter a city of men they didn't know yet.
You were about to report back when you spotted an inn on the other side of the muddy road. Several man were hanging outside. Literally hanging onto everything and everyone who let them because they were too drunk to stand on their own two feet.
"A drink has never hurt me." You walked in with your hood still covering most of your face. You weren't tall enough to catch many people' eyes. Only a few regulars looked up but soon continued talking.
Apparently you weren't a threat.
And that was partially true. If they just judged you on your looks then no one could know what was hidden underneath; a weapon arsenal that Fili would be proud of.
"Ah, a young lass. We don't mind you sitting with us" a burley voice rang through the inn. He pushed back a chair with his foot, opposite of him. The last place you wanted to be seated tonight.
You smiled at him. "I think I'll pass for now."
The man grumbled and took another sip, nothing more for now.
There were still some empty seats at the back of the inn. You went over there to claim one for your own lovely behind. The other dwarves couldn't say that you hadn't thought of them; there were enough empty seats around you for all of them.
And they would join you soon enough, you were sure of it. Knowing your fathers all too well they were already out searching for you. Despite promising you that they would leave you to it this time.
Your heart jumped in your chest. It felt good to have those two old sodds looking after you like they did.
Your parents were killed by goblins whom traveled south of their mountain. In fact many of the villagers lost their lives that faithful night.
The dwarves just happened to stumble upon your burning city after they had lost their own home. Some had searched for survivers. Others traveled onwards because they didn't have the food nor the time to look after wounded humans.
What they didn't know at the time was that there also lived dwarrow in that particular city of men.
Thorin and Dwalin were a couple of the few dwarrows who did went looking for survivors. The dwarven prince ordered some of his man to look with him.
That is how they found you; crying your eyes out as one of the beams of your old home was about to drop down on you. You didn't see the danger, you were too young. All you wanted was your mommy and daddy back.
