Another from imaginexhobbit: Imagine singing 'Blank Space' and telling the Company it is your favourite song. Since they don't know you very well they think the song is about you and your relationships.

I did change it, however. I started writing and I forgot about the 'not knowing you very well' part. But in my opinion it turned out well so I didn't want to change it. The drabble is still about the song though.

The second night in Erebor. You breathed in the cold mountain air. It filled your lungs with an unexpected freshness. A freshness that only the cold stone of the mountain could provide.

You were sitting outside, on a chair on one of the balconies. It earned you a breathtaking view over the old ruines of Dale. For a few hours now you allowed your imagination to run wild. How would it have been to live at the city of men all those decades ago?

Would the dwarves have accepted you as they had now?

Probably not. You wouldn't have been given a chance to prove yourself.

Something soft and warm was draped around your shoulders. You looked up in surprise to find the entire company standing behind you. Ori had been the one to coat you with the blanket.

"Our new warrior shouldn't be dying from the cold after a war like that" Dwalin said.

A new scar ran over his exposed lower arm. It did fit him and his character. Just another scar to add to the collection.

Others had also gained a few, sometimes many, battle scars. Especially the line of Durin had suffered greatly when it came to that department. You were sure though that they were proud of each and every scar.

"What are you doing out here?" Bombur asked.

A cool breeze of air blew your hair over your shoulder. If only you could stay here forever...

You turned around to look at the ruins again. All of it was a piece of history to you. History that you would like to hear more about. To know if your One had been there on that fatal day. "I was merely enjoying the night with some fresh air" you explained.

Bilbo walked forward and sat down beside you. "Did you want to be alone?" he asked.

You smiled. "I am not alone Bilbo. The stars are here with me." You looked up at the sky. Millions of little lights were burning in the sky high above. You wondered what it would be like to be a star. Would you know what was happening on earth? What would you do?

"They don't talk much" Dwalin said, not understanding what you meant. "Right? You don't... you don't hear them talk, right?" he asked carefully.

Bilbo rolled his eyes. "Learn to appreciate nature, you silly dwarf" he said with a hint of seriousness but mainly teasing the bulky dwarf.

Dwalin didn't answer him directly but he did mutter something under his breath.

"(Y/N)? I don't want to make you feel embarrassed but..." Ori started. His knitted gloves were suddenly very interesting.

You turned your head around to look at the young dwarf. "Feel free to ask me anything Ori."

The young dwarf started to blush. "Well, (y/n), a few weeks ago you told us about your love life. Which is personal, I understand that, but you promised us to tell us more about it because you were cut short by an orc attack" the dwarf blurted out.

"Ori!" Dori hissed.

You fully turned around now. "It is alright master dwarf. I indeed told you that I would tell you about that. What would you like to know?"

"For starters, are you alone or is there someone waiting for you?" Kili asked before Ori could.

Many of the dwarves were suddenly quite interested in the conversation.

"There is no one waiting for me Kili" you said with a sad smile. It was a hard topic for you to talk about.

"I don't understand that" Kili said before he could control himself. Thorin shot him a warning glare.

You smiled wryly. "It is quite simple. I am single because my One got slaid before I could meet them."

The company fell silence.

"How do you know that?" Bilbo asked. Hobbits didn't have a One like the dwarves did. So the topic wasn't as devastating to him as it was to the dwarves.

You placed your left hand on your chest. "We humans of the east are connected to nature. We can 'feel' it when something happens to the one we are supposed to share our lives with."

"How does it feel?" Kili asked without thinking, again.

Thorin took a step forward. "You don't have to answer if you are feeling uncomfortable" he said.

"Thank you Thorin. But I don't mind talking about it."

The dwarven king nodded. He would need to have a conversation with his youngest nephew later in the evening.

"When something happens to our One we feel it in our heart. It is painful for the first few days. Almost like someone stabbed you through the chest with a dagger and twists it."

Bilbo turned as white as a sheet.

"Is that why you decided to use man and destory their lives after a month?" Nori asked bluntly. He reached for the back of his head when Dori hit him there. "Ouch! Don't act like I made that up" he snapped.

Your eyes widened. "Excuse me?"

"All my brother is trying to say is that you said it was your favourite song. It is your favourite song because it is about your own life, right?" Dori asked. At least he had the decency to act like he didn't want to ask you.

You shot up from the ground. "Did all of you think that?" you asked.

Many of the man were looking at anything but you. Bofur actually started to whistle and kick at a non-existing pebble on the ground.

"Unbelievable. You all thought that the song I told you about was about me?" you asked. They knew they were wrong because the intensity of your voice was getting higher.

"Now now (y/n). I think you can see why we thought that" Gloin pointed out. He backed down when you directed your glare at him.

"You honestly thought that the song was about (y/n)?" Bilbo asked, getting up to stand beside you. He seemed as surprised as you by this revelation.

"We assumed that it was" Bifur admitted.

You crossed your arms and stuck your nose in the air. "Well you were wrong then. I have not been in a relationship of any kind with a man or woman before."

Fili frowned and before Thorin could stop him, he asked; "Would you consider being with someone of your own gender?" There was no judgement there, just curiosity. But you had enough of them at this point.

"Why don't you just all assume that I do? You seem to be quite good at that" you said before storming off.

"Good job boys" Thorin said to his nephews. Bilbo, Balin and he followed you back inside the mountain.

Fili and Kili shrugged.

"It's not like we asked or said something that the rest wasn't thinking" Kili muttered.
