"You want me to kill Kylo Ren. Your husband?" She raised a white-blond eyebrow, her face full of disdain and questioning.
"He is no longer my husband in anything but legal matters. He has betrayed me and the First Order. He was not strong enough for our work, and instead of trying to improve, he joined the Resistance. He knows too much, and he must be stopped. I loved him once, but I also love my work and my goals for the Galaxy. That is more important. Bring him in, and I will pay you more than generously. I'll give you an extra one hundred thousand credits if you bring back his whole body instead of his head." I was surprised by the vehemence and venom in my voice. All of my anger had been in those sentences.
Phasma shook her head at me. "You're crazy. But it pays, and it isn't really morally wrong. He betrayed you. I'll take the job. Do you want him killed in a specific way?" She asked me curiously.
"Yes, actually. I want it to be up close and personal with this." I opened a case that I had brought with me and handed her a lightsaber. I had bought it off the black market. "Tell him that the emperor sends his love."
"You're filled with anger. Everything you say and do is being fueled by your feelings of betrayal." Her words were true, but I did not care. I wanted revenge. He deserved whatever he got.
"Just do your job, Phasma. Leave the ambiguity of my morals to me." I rolled my eyes.
"Fine. I hope you're happy, Hux. When you were with Kylo you were the happiest I ever saw you. You both were in love. I wish you could go back to that. You both were better off." Her voice's tone changed to one of sadness and regret.
"Get out of here and keep your nose out of my love life. You're not my right hand man anymore. You are a bounty hunter who is being paid to kill someone for me, not lecture me on my heartlessness." I glared at her.
She met my gaze and did not look away from me until she turned to leave. I knew she would be good for her word and kill Kylo. I knew she did not approve of my actions, but that mattered little to me. I had more important things to deal with.
For instance, the new senate was meeting for the first time in a week. That was a monumental moment in the new First Order. Almost 55% of the recognized planets had pledged themselves to us, and all were sending representatives. It was a big step. As normal, whenever a new change or improvement happened, I wished Kylo could have been there to see it.
"I wish you had stayed." I said quietly as I watched Phasma fly away out of my window. "I never wanted it to end this way." A tear ran down my cheek, and I did not stop it.
