I had been prepared. In the inner workings of the device I had used to find Snoke, I had asked the hunter who had made it to put a detonator in it. I had realized that if we had gone back to Snoke and had the opportunity to speak with him, odds were that we would be imprisoned. Thankfully, Ta'ar had not asked any questions.
I had not told Kylo because if he thought we would be imprisoned or endangered, he probably would have balked at returning. Granted, we had not planned to return like this, but here we were.
Kylo was looking down at me in shock after I had told him we could escape. "How?" He asked. "What machinations do you have that would enable escape?"
"This." I drew out the tracker and in hushed tones, I explained what it could do.
"Why didn't you tell me this before?!" Kylo was angry, but, for our sake, he was keeping his voice down. "That might have helped us out. We could have gotten out before we were put on a shuttle carrying us to our death."
"Listen, I'm going to detonate this, but in a certain way. The bomb won't do much, just tear a small hole. There's a small ledge by the door, right across from where the controls for the door are. It will detonate and make a hole that one of us can release us with." I stood up and showed him.
"Smart. But how will you get us out? The door is probably coded." Kylo was sitting up now and looking at me attently. I squatted down by him.
"Nothing here has changed. I'm no longer commander, but the basics are the same. Every trooper of a certain rank knows how to unlock a cell door. Who do you think set these codes?"
"You don't think they've changed?" Kylo asked, skeptically. "I don't want to second guess you, but-"
"Don't worry, I understand your intent. Yes, I am sure. If things had been changed, the efficiency of everything we have experienced would be downgraded as the troopers would be adjusting to new door codes and entrance keys. Trust me. I know these men."
I now had no regrets for the massive amounts of time I had invested into making sure that I had everything recorded and timed. Due to that, I was able to calculate things like dips in speed and efficiency.
"Wow. You have it all planned out. So what do we do when we are out?" Kylo asked me, clearly not entirely buying it.
"We need to gain control of the ship. This is a small shuttle. I doubt there are more than five soldiers on here. We can steal weapons and then take over the ship and head for anywhere but here." I sighed. This was going to be complicated.
"I'm in. So when do you plant the detonator?" Kylo asked. "Do you know where Snoke is?"
"He's on an ancient Sith planet known as Dromund Kaas. Not many people even know where that is." I had heard of it in my studies, but I had never gone.
"Good. Now let's do this." I could tell Kylo was ready. I set the device on the ledge, pressed the button, then ducked.
The explosion was fairly soft, and it left a hole about a foot in diameter. I reached my hand through the hole and quickly typed the pass code, and the door slid open.
"Come on!" I beckoned Kylo.
He followed me, and within a couple seconds, we encountered our first trooper. Before I could react, Kylo thrust out a hand and the unfortunate trooper flew into the wall with a loud crash.
Kylo grabbed a gun and tossed it to me. "Let's do this."
I looked down at the weapon, then I grinned at the man I loved more than the world. "Bet we can do it in under five minutes."
"Make it four." Kylo winked at me. "The cockpit is almost directly above us. We need to head up."
"It's this way," I said, remembering the layout of the ship from my experiences on the ship. I had had to memorize the layout of all of the First Order ships. The way I had done that was to go on missions on them, so I could learn hands on.
We ran up a set of stairs and Kylo Force-pushed his way into the cockpit, but not before I shot the two sentries standing outside.
"I don't want to shoot these men, they're on our side," I said to Kylo,"but it's necessary."
"That it is," he replied as he killed one of the pilots with a Force choke and I blasted the other.
"What do we do?" I asked Kylo. "We are in hyperspace. We need to get off course. As soon as we enter Dromund Kaas airspace, Snoke will sense something is up."
Kylo grinned. "Leave it to me. Trust me."
I trusted him. He had trusted me. "Do it."
"Fun times. Let's see where we get dropped." Kylo extended his hand and grabbed something on the console and ripped it out, and we stopped abruptly.
"What the heck did you do?!" I asked.
"We dropped into real space. We are somewhere near the planet Naboo." Kylo consulted a computer. "My recommendation is to rest there, undercover. We can loop back to Coruscant and get our gear back from our apartment, then go after Snoke and finish what we started."
"Then what are we waiting for?" I kissed him passionately. "You're a genius."
"You got us out of this. We are alive because of you. You're amazing, Hux." Kylo's smile was so bright and happy. I was happier than I could remember, other than the time when he had kissed me.
We had escaped, we were alive, and we had each other.
"Let's dump these bodies," I said.
"Great romance is when you can do that without your boyfriend reporting you to the police." Kylo laughed. "I say, however, that we leave them on the ship. Shock factor is fun."
I shook my head. Kylo was crazy sometimes, but he was mine. He was a big part of why we were alive. I would do anything for him. He was willing to give it all for me as well. We were unbreakable and unstoppable.
