Hux PoV

Six months after Kylo's "death"

"You might want to see this." FN-2187, my most trusted soldier and bodyguard. "It's about your late husband."

I stiffened as I accepted the data pad and scrolled through the information. I had retasked some of the special ops troopers to keep tabs on things like the whereabouts of Kylo Ren and the bounty hunters we had once hired. Although I had been told my former lover was dead, I would not believe it until I saw it myself.

There was not much to see. It was just an intercepted message between what appeared to be a low level member of the Resistance and an unnamed being.

"What tipped them off about this?" I asked coolly.

"Look at the name of the sender." FN-2187 pointed for me. "Ben Hux. It can't be a coincidence. It's honestly smart. Hux is a common name, and it's the last thing that anyone would suspect a criminal to do, change their name to match the name of the emperor. It's worth a check out. It's saying that someone will meet Ben on one of the moons of Endor in two days."

"There're only two. I'll have two patrols set on both moons." I handed the day pad back, thinking about this. What if it was a trap? It was not like the Resistance to leave easily encrypted maps. Had we gotten really lucky or really duped?

"Would you like for me to arrange for troops to be moved to that moon?" FN-2187 asked me respectfully.

"Yes please. Are there any other interesting things of note?" I sighed. I hoped that Kylo would just stay dead, but I doubted it.

"No sir. The Resistance has started to regain ground, however. They are rebranding and becoming more organized and deadly. More planets are joining them."

"That will be dealt with once this issue is done. Having an undead Kylo Ren wander around won't go well." I stood up and tried to hide my shaking hands and hoped my face hadn't paled of gone red.

"Yes, sir, of course, sir." The trooper saluted and left. I walked down to the training room. I wanted to practice my aim. Troopers cleared the way for me as I walked through. It was not surprising. I was the emperor, after all.

"At ease, gentlemen." I said, drawing my pistol and firing elegantly, one handed at a simulation training dummy. I hit it every time except for twice out of two hundred.

"I'm a force to be reckoned with." I said angrily. "I am no royal pawn, and  I am unafraid of  soiling my hands in matters of this gravity."

I left the room to find FN-2187. He was briefing the troops. "I'm coming with you." I said bluntly. "There's something I need to do."
