In all honesty, my pride was injured. I had always thought I was one of the galaxy's elite, pumped up by high scores in combat simulation and my elevated rank. I felt stupid. I had always relied on theory and the lessons learned at the Academy. I had never realized fully how out of my league I was on this mission.

Everyone coming was an assassin or, in Kylo's case, had been well trained and seen large scale combat. I had never gotten that.

After the fight between myself and Yur'ama ended, and it had all been resolved, Kylo gestured for me to come into the cockpit with him.

I followed, ignoring Yur'ama's muttered comment that we were plotting his death.

"What do you need, Ren?" I asked him, bracing myself for a lecture on being ready for battle. Instead, I got a passionate kiss and a warm embrace. I settled my head into Kylo's shoulder and breathed him in.

"This'll be done soon," he said, sitting down in the pilot seat, me still atop of him. "We will rule together and be able to spend quality time. You don't understand how tired I am of having to take moments like this. I want entire days where it is just you and I and a nice bed or couch where we can curl up together and just be-"

"Together. It doesn't matter where, just that we are together. But it's nice to not have to try to cram it into our lives. I look forward to the day when we can cram things into our lovelife. For now, we have priorities." I smiled ruefully down at him, pushing his tousled curls out of his face.

"Priorities will wait. We have a while before we hit the planet Luke is on. You know what that means?"

I grinned at him, already knowing. I leaned in to kiss him and we were enveloped in each other once more, passionately kissing, as if each kiss was our last. We did this for a straight five minutes and were left gasping, but beyond overjoyed.

"I love you, Hux," he said to me, softly, running a bare hand down my cheek and onto my lip. "You are the joy of my world. You are the bright spot in a world where I feared spending all my time alone in the dark." He kissed me more gently. "I still walk a dark path, but now, I am not alone. I have you with me, and that makes everything alright."

I smiled at him, not sure how to respond to the outpouring of emotion. In my whole life, no one had ever shown me that love. Everything had always been coldly efficient. Kylo was an open book, full and brimming with emotion and love and ready for me to dive in.

"Thank you," I said,"you make me feel like I am the most amazing person alive. You make me feel like I am the emperor."

"You will be emperor," he smirked at me,"once this is over."

"Do we have to talk battle plans?" I asked him flirtatiously. "I've done that with you for weeks."

"What do you want to do?" He replied, raising an elegant eyebrow.

"Send Yur'ama into the cockpit and spend some time in those beds back there? I hear cuddling is good for people like us."

"Best way to wait." Kylo grinned at me. "Let's go."

We headed back and told Yur'ama to man the cockpit. We had a romantic rendezvous to observe as we waited for our chance to change our lives.
